They ended up clearing out and telling me I could come out around 10am.. so they'd been there for at least an hour and a half (I tried to leave for work at the usual 8:30)

I never did find out what the fuss was about, but they had the party van behind that house and everything

Maybe it was a prank.  They made everyone stay in their homes while they robbed someones house.  No one would think to call the police on the SWAT team.

Ah, so what happened was an insurance fraud ring. They were getting out of province luxury vehicles, rolling back the odometers and setting up "accidents" and "thefts" then making illegitimate insurance claims. Cost the province an estimate $800,000.

They had the ERT at this particular house because of alleged gang ties, but they arrested a shit load of people all over the city, and shut down two shops.
