My fuse keeps blowing
Everytime my compressors kick on, the fuse will blow. Either during the first cycle, or the 2nd cycle of the tank refill. Im running a 30amp fuse now. Should/Can I upside the fuse to a 35 or 40 amps??
I have an IS300 and I am running 2 compressors and 2 tanks. The reason behind this, is so that I can hide it in the spare tire well. In case I need to haul whatever and not have to worry about space.
Does anyone else have/had this problem, and what was the fix?

what gauge wires are you running from the battery to the relays? are you running 2 separate wires from the battery to each compressor or 1 wire? and is that 30amp fuse for both compressors? i would run 1 fat gauge wire from the battery to the rear into a 2 fuse, fuse block. 1-80amp fuse in the front 1foot from the battery. then in the rear 2 - 30 or 40 amp in the fuse block, out to 2 relays then to the compressors.

can u contact the manufacturer and ask them how many amps there product (the compressors) are designed to pull? tell them your fuse problem and they can, hopefully, suggest the appropriate size wiring and fusing.
dont just put a larger fuse in there. the wiring to the compressors can only support so much current. if u allow too much current to flow through the wire it will heat up and, depending on how hot it gets, could cause a smoke show.
i would say 30-40amps would be the absolute max i would run through a 10 gauge wire. and honestly with even 40 amps of current you wil be safer with 8gauge wiring.

that happened to me too and i got it fixed i used 40 amps for my dual comp. It works just find.

too small...wire can't handle the load that is why your fuse popping...just go with what mista808 suggest...that IS the best option.
unless you like just run one compressor, but even then it depends on what size of your compressor is.

I will be running a 2nd 10guage wire from my battery to the 2nd compressor. Hopefully that will cure my fuse blowing. I dont like fuse blocks, costs to much money :(

cool a seperate 10 gauge to each pump sounds more reasonable anyways. honestly the air pumps, at least that i've seen, haven't been wired with more than 8 gauge.
how long is the run of wire going to be? the shorter it is the higher fusing it can handle. the longer it is and the more resistance itll have which will cause it to heat up.

I had the same issue except I was melting 150 amp fuses , I had a seized compressor , check each of your compressors and make sure you do have at least what is needed to have them at max put outs.
in my case 75 amp each but but both together

youre still gonna have to use 2 inline fuses at least 1ft from the battery for each cable....

So I ran a 2nd 10guage wire, which was free, from all my stereo wiring back in the day. I did put a fuse 1ft from the battery. The wire is in the engine bay, to the compressors in the trunk.
After the re-wiring, I made the compressors kick on 4-5 times. So far, the fuses are still intact.

I would have tried adding a 1 farad cap right in front of the motors to see if it is just an initial spike causing it to blow.
