Rolling and pulling with a bat???

ok i just went to a few shops today and one said they cant us a fender roller on my car and i need alil fender pull on my car and one shop said they will use a base ball bat....and they'll charge me $100 to do this with a bat.!?!?  so i figure if they are gonna use a base ball bat to pull it ...why cant i do that...so has anyone done this process before.....the car is a 69 dart and the reason why they cant use a roller is because to design of the rear fendor :pat:

ive searched youtube and i saw the bat video and it didnt look to hard......i might have to try it out.....i wish i had a car to practice on.....im scard!!!!lol..

Hammer and dolly is a better idea, since you're basically just folding a straight edge in this case

lol @ a bat but if they have done it before and have a bat that was specifically for rolling or something i would believe it. But that I doubt so I would suggest finding another place to check first.

My bros honda accord has a dent in the fender, mabe you could roll and pull it out with a bat and get some practice   :runcoold:

This is my favorite method...but yeah, not hard unless yo are trying to flair or really pull also...

lol. go out at 3am and look for a car to roll ur bat onto. LOL

it's an ol skool method. Pretty easy, you just need someone to help you out.

I find Louisville Sluggers to work far better then the cheaper inferior bats.  Don't settle for less, make sure the shop plans to use one

hm bit of a thread jack but certainly related...i want to roll my fronts more on my 2GS, they have been rolled a bit by a shop but want to go further, especially at top dead centre of the guard.

me and my mate used a rubber mullet on his starlet, didnt heat up the paint cause we painted it afterwards.
but you should heat it up to the point when its reasonably hot but not too hot to burn the paint...
i will be rolling my rear guards after i get back from goldcoast(rims get stuck in fenders...stupid 4ws)
and i will use mullet aswell, its easy and fast

 i got mine for 100 new on ebay 3 years ago!
 
Ill be doing a how to video n rolling fenders next month, so look out for it

if you havent done it before i wouldnt do it you could buckle your fender and trust me its nothing funny well unless its not your car ive seen it happen to many s13's but just find another shop to do it would be my move

s13 is a totally different monster
our cars are cake
just take alot of muscle

be safe. use a roller.

^ i wouldnt have thought newspaper pull would work on hard-ass doublethick lexus fenders?

A fender roller is more difficult than it looks imo. (I only used it a few times)

I think the bat it much easier to use, takes less time and makes a smoother arch. No waviness that I found when I used the fender roller. Or having to use a spacer to get around the caliper or rolling/pulling the fender more. Plus you don't have to keep taking your tires off and putting it back on  to see if the fitment is correct. Your basically getting the fitment on point for the rim/tire your gonna be using to roll the bat on.

I would be scared that if I messed up, I would be standing in front of my car all angry and frustrated with a bat in my hand

i gotta roll or shave my rear some more too..i might jus shave more off but does anyone kno how much to shave before it becomes too much? i dont wanna have the rear panels split on me
