07 camry with stupid fitment 20x9.5 +16 (f) & 20x10 +10 (r)

Hey guys, a good friend of mine had these fabulous profound wheels up for sale a few weeks ago. theyre actually off SL500, but I really like the wheels so i stupidly decided to buy them and put them on the car just to be different from the rest of the camry pack. obviously they wont fit without any fender mods, so all 4 fenders are pulled and wheels are cambered about 3 degree

enjoy the pics, excuse the low quality pics

I really like how the car sits at the moment, but theres a catch, although the fenders have been pulled the car is not drivable AT ALL!! So please anyone please any thoughts / help would be greatly appreciated. I am really new in this vip fitment game so would like to know what you guys think and what i should do to run vip fitment wheels. Please also note that im not keeping these wheels, im gonna go 19s cuz i think 20 looks abit too big. but do you guys think that will fix the problem? THANKS!!!

Wow, i am surprised you got those to fit with so little camber/fender mods! I agree they are a bit on the big side... IMO 20s should be tucking rim; 19s would mean you can go a bit lower.

Now, in order to help you gotta tell us *why* you cant drive like that. What hitting? Where is it hitting? For a start, you should be looking at smaller tyres for more of a stretch. Additional camber means the wheel will angle in more when suspension compresses; but additional camber would mean the fitment wouldnt be as good.

(what i mean by that is with 3 degrees of camber, when you compress the suspension 1" it might go to 4 degrees. When you are at 4.5 degrees of camber, a inch of compression might bring it to 6 degrees - that extra angle, combined with the angle of the sidewalls of the tyres could be the difference between hitting and not hitting the inner fender)

Lastly, tapping out any bumps inside your fender wells is a must...

Hey dom thx for the reply, yeah i wont be able to ride low with 20s, i had to raise the car up about 4 cm to get that car at that height

Forum image

as shown in the pic, those 2 circles are the biggest problems of this fitment, circle 1 is still ok, i can roll that back in place and problem is solved, but circle 2 is GG!! i really dont know how to get around that

im assuming that there is a really hard peice of metal there where the bumper meets the fender. trim that off and you should be able to pull the fender a bit more. a TAD bit more camber and more stretch and you should be golden.

get 235/30/20 and 245/30/20 and it may not even touch at that point where the fender meets the bumper
you may be able to drive a that height or lower with just that being done. th front needs more camber tho. Try the nitto NEOGen tire

Same as above, more stretch a tad more camber. 19s would look better but u can pull of the 20s. I think 20s look good on slammed cars with full kits. 19s good on lip kits

I'll give you credit for jumping in both feet!! As mentioned, you could trim the plate where the bumper/fender meet and then get a little more roll/pull. I think the fronts could be pulled a touch more too...

Thx for the advice, thats 1 good option too, but do you think its better to ride on 20s with profile 30 or downgrade to 19s but with profile 35? profile 35 looks better when stretched imo, are you using neogen at the moment?

no redrill no hubs, simply just slap the wheels on. however i do use thin and pointy wheel nuts so they can be tighten properly. Might sound dangerous to you guys, but many of my friends are running jap wheels with mercedes stud pattern of their 5x114.3 cars. no dramas whatsoever

Little bit more camber. As for that #2 part, I'm not too sure how the bumper holds on with that car. I'll take a look at one in the shop tomorrow and see if I can think of something to try.

You win big time btw. I had to show this to Winnipeg so they can stop being pussies.

30s can look just a nice stretched imo, if you look a lot of the japanese cars in the mags run 30 series at least in the rear., and esp on 20s.

id look into smaller tyres and more camber too. problem is though no you have flared the guards to match the wheel at that camber, if you go more the line of the flare may not match the angle of the wheel & tyre as well as it does now.

gl with it though, dont be daunted by it i think you are closer than it might seem to making it work. (maybe not in a $$ & time sense, but at least in a physical fitment sense!!)

way to show Aus can do some cool shit too btw haha even tho it is a Camry ;)

yea thats what i thought. 5x112 wheels will "fit" on 5x114.3 but the lugs will never be centered and wont be as tight as they should be, or some lugs will be tighter than others. youre putting quite a bit of stress on your studs. i hope do you dont run into major problems because of this.

Strangely enough I know a 350z owner as well running 5x112 wheels with similar lugs and no issues. I am running 5x112 wheels on my Q45 with variation lugs so that the seat is centered though.

Like people have said more stretch and I think you can make this work. Check the tire threads in the wheel section for brands that stretch the most. Good luck!

Get skinnier tires for a start. It will help a lot. It seems like to me like you got too much meat (rubber) at the moment. Especially for something that wide on a camry.

Then, if you are still rubbing, shave off all the fender tabs where the bumper meets the inner fenders. If you must shave it all off, then you may need to find new mounting point for the bumpers, otherwise it may get ripped off.

Still doesn't work? Get a camber kit made. Usually a top mount camber kit will allow you to slant the shock mounts towards the inside to give you maximum camber. Still not enough? In Indo, we can get "slanted spacers" made to make the wheels even more cambered. It's basically just your standard spacers that are shaved at an angle to give you more degree. I don't know about how safe it is, but it will help a lot with rubbing against the fenders. But you know how indo is, nothing is sacred here hehehh...

About the 5x112 on 5x114, it really depends on the wheel design. If your wheel is one of those with big lugnut holes, then you have nothing to worry about. I had 5x112 autocouture rims on my aristo previously and I had plenty of space for the lugnuts. They might as well have been 5x114. I don't know enough about the Fabs to give you a definite answer.

Oh, and selamat datang! ;)
