Wheel repair/Restore in SoCal

Looking around here I saw a thread about wheel repair but not sure about the two companies. rbwheels I got the wheels from and I hear they can do sloppy work at times, and thewheelsupply does not seem to have a site anymore and has mixed reviews. I was dead set on having some one do them but it did not work out so now I am kind of in the air and need them done for SEMA in Nov.

I need to find a shop or what ever that can fix scratches on the lip of one wheel and to re-finish the faces on my Work wheels taking care of corrosion and such. So if you know some one that does decent work at a reasonable price making the wheels look great. Check out "Tires Buy Mark" in Canoga Park.... He refinshed 2 different sets for me... and I was very satisfied, great prices too.

rb wheels does a decent job.  i know several people who have bought wheels from them that were refinished.  looked good. no issues.
 
as with refinishing anything, ther'es always a chance that color and quality will not match factory finish 100%; but almost anything is better than corrosion on the faces and rashed to hell lips.
 
i know i guy who got wheels custom built buy them, but the inner seals were leaking, rb repaired the problem by resealing the barrels and no issues since.
 
i'm sure if you do have problems, they will warranty thier work.
 
the wheels supply-never dealt with them, so can't say, but the same prolly holds true for them as rb.
 
back in the day i used wheels america.  great work; but, expensive.  they do pick up and drop off, which might be usefull if you work 9-5 and dont have time to drive around town

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. I will check out all of them. I had turned down a great offer from RB due to a complaint form a friend that they sent him wheels with over-spray. I bought the wheels from RB :) They said they were not entirely ready to do the work but could if I really wanted it. The price was crazy good.

Yea forget RB.  Issues there.  They never fully disclose how F-d their wheels usually are.   Ive had them redo lips, and they do nothing more than mount the wheel to something that spins and throw some sandpaper against it.   That is how it has always held up.   Plus, whatever coating they said they put on never held up.   They also had lost half set of my rims I had bought from them.   They blamed it on Fedex even though Fedex never got the rims in the first place.  Took them a month and a half to finally refund me.    The two wheels I had they tried making me pay shipping to send back to them, until I told them how negative it would be if they tried that crap.  Still wont do business with them though.

James, check out Performance Wheel Repair, does good work.  His shop is in the same plaza as The Wheel Supply but I'm pretty sure his prices are lower, and he does some legit work

Yeah started my calls Monday but school comes first. Talked to one shop and sent them off and email with pics. No response yet. Will make some more Calls Thursday as I really need to at the very least get these temptations out of my back seat :)

Yeah same look as OEM but nice and new :) No Gold cause my car right now has been de-ambered :) and you can't see any yellow unless the turn signals are on. Pretty much a silver/platinum guy :)

a little more than powdercoating and clear.

Well I am def. interested :) As long as it is better for a wheel that has just had corrosion removed :) I will have to look into this :) great. But it's not Black Chrome right? I see some sites touting it it it's not a real black.

check out VIP Status in Torrance, CA ([url]www.vipstatususa.com[/url]).  They can refinish your wheels for you in whatever finish you'd like, but if you just want or repair rashes on the lips, and depending how bad they are, they can do it for you while you wait.

Need a place to sand blast and polish my wheels....any recommendation?

lol I would read the entire thread. There are plenty of suggestions just for that  on these pages.

So after a long pause this project is semi active again. I am taking the wheels to  a guy in Whittier. Gonna take a look at the work he does in person. If all is well I will be leaving the wheels with him. I hope to have this done by the TORQ show.

Not much luck yet on this. But I have not given up hope.
