I decided to keep my car and just continue on modifying it.... Seems like the economy is so bad none of my stuff is moving.... Anyways so I decided to get bags...here are some pics. All I've done was just run the power line for the compressors and notched the perches for the bags up front. Wednesday going to install the compressor and tank and then this weekend do some valving and more wiring. If time permits maybe I can get the bags and lines all done but doubtful.
This is what it looks like stock RS-R coilover

This is with the UAS bag and the perch slightly trimmed to fit the air fitting

Sorry to hear that it didnt sell but I am glad you are still modifying the car. Wish I could of picked up the coilovers but I dont need them until next year so I wasted my money on other stuff.

This is cheaper anyways... If I got a new car I'd have payments and right now its nice not having one...

I think UAS recommends adding the metal brackets on each side of the bag to keep it centered. Will that perch stay put without the other one locking against it?
Glad you're keeping the car!

good picks , its looks the same as a y34 strut from the picture ..
let me know if you change your mind again i am on the hunt for suspension parts and this might be an option ...PENDING FITMENT

sup Chrispy... This isn't the type of lock nut where you use 2 and lock them together...this one is actually just 1 lock nut with a slit and a allen bolt that squeezes it onto the strut.
As for the the metal brackets my locknut actually has a lip inside where it is pretty much centers the bag. Also the diameter of the strut already is the size of the sleeve inside the bag so there isn't too much room for play anyways. I'll take pics because I think I have to take it apart and reset the perch heights anyways.

slowly but surely...thanks guys.
Tomorrow heading up to my friends shop.... he made his own CNC machine out of wood, motors, and circuit boards. Going to just cut out some panel boards for the compressor and tank to sit on so I can still access the spare and what not. I haven't asked but maybe I can get it carpeted too so it won't look so ghetto.. I'll post pics soon.

No joke... has 3 motors for X Y axis and a motor to bring the drill up and down. Rolls on bearings and rails etc.
We first drew it up on CAD and then on some CNC program. I was damn impressed he built this thing. Hooked up the power and his shop vac and it went to work.
He just sent me a link of when it first worked... looks alittle different now with a brush and vacuum hose hook up which isn't shown here. Total cost was around 2K for the whole build.

I looked into that a while back, but lost interest...haha. There's stuff all over online on how to build them. If I didn't have such a big ADD issue, I probably would have built one. Or I would have built half of it and then found interest in something else..hahaha.

well this is the piece that we made... its simple and easy to take in and out. This isn't a show build so I didn't want anything fancy. I will get it covered in leather or vinyl or cloth...Anyways another step done. The CNC just cut out the whole piece and drilled each hole as well as the countersunk holes.

Getting there slowly but surely.
Not sure which valve group is going to do which bag yet. I'm also trying to figure which way to get my air source routed into the trunk. All my wiring I think I'll be going through the right side. Either drill a hole and use the supplied grommets or use an existing vent hole flap thingy. I'm not even sure where to mount the gauge and the switches yet. I've been busy lately so been trying to do little by little late at night.
I didn't put much thought into this tank/compressor setup. I just want it to work and look semi-clean with little to no problems.

Sorry to Rain on your tread , but i hope you are planning on driving this in the winter region.. or HEADING IN A REGION WITH SNOW ANY TIME PERIOD !!!
And its a great idea but you have to keep checking for rust on the fittings due to salt and dust ....if you are heading out of CAL ..
Actolex will be able to help of some of the issues that will arise before hand because he did the same thing but on a M ...in NJ/NYC ..
i can't wait to see this ride when you are done ...

I doubt my car will ever see snow. In SoCal the cars stay in better condition then most other places. Little rain...hardly any snow The temperatures I see everyday is from 35 at the lowest and 105 at the highest. Right now I'd say about 90. If I do every plan on going to the mountains I'll take something else. Does that mean everyone with bags in harsh winter regions check their fittings on their bags on each corner more often?

Yeah I know...That's the risk I take I guess. Right now I'm not driving with any bumper support beam since the JDS bumpers are shorter. After the air is done I'm going to look into chopping up the beam to make it fit.

Comparing UAS on RSR coilovers next to stock struts with Swift springs. Keep in mind the stock strut with the swift spring compresses a good amount so the difference in height is less than you think.

Yes and no. I'm getting some clunking noise on certain bumps. Also have a pop noise when I go full down on my rear left side. I need to figure out what it is this weekend. Also have some air leaks but I figure it to happen and will try and solve that also with the good old water/soap trick.
The going up and down is fun and looks sweet parked. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to drive at.
So far how I drive it now:
Parked 0psi front 0-10psi rear
Driving 50psi front 70psi rear
going up bumps 90psi front 90psi rear

The clunking noise is common. I was going nuts the first week but I got used to it. I don't have gauges so I can't help you with the PSI. After a couple days, you know exactly how to play with the controller to get the car to sit where you want it and how to drive it comfortably

Wow no gauges? You must have counted how many times you push or hold the buttons. LOL Right now I just did a test drive and set the front at 35psi and I rubbed when I made a u-turn. I guess its got to be 40psi+ up front. The rear I kept looking and comparing to the front and then how parallel the sideskirts were to the floor...I figured 70 is now too low and 80ish is best for rear... This is all driving height.

Good luck with the front. The front is already quite low but the front fenders are cut so high.

Yeah the front is actually pretty low but could go lower. Like you said the front is high arched and so the upper liner is low itself and am pretty much either touching or almost touching the tire. I am running 35 series tires so that can also make a difference. Radiusing the rear would be awesome but I don't know about how it would look when I raise the car to drive around.

Ride is actually ok now. I'm currently driving around 50psi front and 90psi rear. The ride seems to be better with that setup. Less noise too.
You didn't install pressure gauges? How do you know how high or low you are without getting out of the car? Also getting to 100psi is pretty fast and the bags say 110psi max...

universal air can take higher psi, and i have no idea how low im riding i guess i could just tell by now. i constantly adjust while driving anyway so i keep the switchbox on my lap. i have a dakota digital gauge that i need sendors for that im gonna install someday. im curious as to what psi im driving at normally.
your comfortable psi will be different from mine cause of your stiff rsr coilovers compared to the brand new modified and shortened stock struts i used.
oh yeah i also have those suppressors on the valves that are adjustable to how fast/loud the dump is and i have 3/8 inch lines not 1/2 inch so the raise isnt as jumpy.

I'm also using the dakota digital gauge...too bad you didn't have the sending units to begin with when you did the air install. Also I'm 1/4in lines...and I think the speed is perfect however hard to adjust to exactly what psi you want so I just get as close as I can.
The fronts are coilover but the rear I still have the factory shock in...was kinda lazy to put the RSR back in. However the ride is still good with the stock shocks in the back.

great progress since the last time i saw this one.
Update...I changed my air valves to the Accuair and saved alot of space and weight. Some say it's too slow but I don't see too much of a difference since I'm running 1/4in lines anyways. I like it slow and not like hydraulics. Install was also easier since there are less plumbing and therefore less chance of leaks. Right now have 2 x 3/8 lines from tank to the Accuair VU4 manifold and then 3/8 line to a T where it converts back down to 1/4 and the other opening has the pressure sending unit. I ordered it from UAS and they explained all the pros and cons...thanks guys.
A month or 2 ago I sent in my car to get the rear bumper fixed. Had a minor bumper contact while parking. While that was getting fixed I got the front bumper also repainted and mid piece accent thingy painted...and mounted in the middle on black mesh. Before I used to just have nothing there..not even the black mesh stuff. You can't see the mesh very well in the pics but its there. That middle piece really made a huge difference and glad I decided to put it on. BTW it came with the kit but couldn't figure out how I was going to mount it. I gave it to my bodyshop guy and he did it for me. Since we were shooting the same paint color I got the visors painted body color also.
Here is a pic when I first got the kit on.... You will notice different rims, different hood mascot, painted visors, front bumper center piece and mesh added and air suspension now put on...
Here is some pics I took today after a wash at home.
If anyone wants to buy my car... 15K as is and I am not desperate to sell. Just willing to upgrade to something nicer if I get the opportunity...

they are replica e320 fogs. You can get them on ebay for under $100 shipped brand new
edit: these may be different fogs. Not sure if the bumper overlaps the fog or it fits snug in the hole. Its hard to tell

It might
If ya mount em upside down
Or having a body shop fill the gaps left over from them not fittin correctly. It'll still beat that $400 price tag on the Japanese ones.

Damn Blitz your car is looking really nice, now that you got the air all worked out. I'm about to join the crowd should have my UAS arriving sometime in the near future. Do you have any more pics of the install or how you ran the air lines? That's the one thing I'm hesitant about is running my own air lines. I'm sure I can get the wiring and all done but just unsettled on the air lines. Also did you end up getting a modified re bar back on the car or not?
Once again great job and I hope you keep the car you got it looking really nice and you've put a lot of work into it.

there is plenty of room for the lines. Under the car you will see alot of lines going from the front and back of the car like the hard brake lines. I used some of those channels to run the line. On the driver side I just used those mounting tabs UAS provides you with. I didn't use up half of those tabs. The only hardest and crappiest part was running the power wire. It's still abit halfassed the way i installed it. I didn't do the bumper bar thing yet. Haven't had time and have to find someone that can do it. I think I know someone but it ain't cheap. anyways good luck.

I might just have to come by and check them out... I've got to see if these will just fit on or need to modify my bumper. There are 2 bracket tabs on the bumper on each side each opening. Each tab has a single hole. It looks like these fog have something on the sides that would just pop right in. But wouldn't mounting fogs upside down shine it upwards? I though fogs were designed to point downwards so it doesn't reflect the light off the fog to the driver.

It appears like the tuck behind the kit and not sit flush. I seriously doubt that JDS makes fogs. Matter of fact, no Japanese companies make fogs unless they just modify the internals of other OEM fogs.

question about rear bags
Hey Blitz how did you mount the metal cup brackets that hold the rear bag in the rear spring holders.
Here's a pic from earlier in your thread that might help you answer my question.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I got my bags ready to go should be finishing up some work on the trunk tonight so I can start runinng my air lines and mounting the bags on thursday. I wanna do the rear myself, then I have a shop lined up for the front.
Any updates on your car?

I didn't...it sits loose. I hate it...makes noise. Look on UAS site and look at some of the sample pics of another Q45 that made a plate and mounted the bag onto it.. I'm thinking about it.

dude...I have the perfect bumper for you... I actually have a Impul front bumper in TLC condition as in it needs some fixing but minor... I think I have the rear too but the rear needs more work. Let me know if you are interested... I think if I can find a box I can greyhound ship it so it'll be cheaper.

yo blitz dont do it. those damn body kit companies sellin DEPO brand E-class foglights are whack. nearly all the companies utilize that foglight. its such a generic pos light and needs trimming to fit. im still pretty salty about my 430 dollar poor investment. if i knew it was depo brand, and that it wouldnt be at least a decent fitment i would have just retrofitted any other hella or other brand oem quality foglight.
also i didnt think having those rear mounting plates really were optional lol. i dont know cause i didnt do the install but the cup things look like more weight n work. i think drilling holes n fabbing a plate is quicker? just my guess.
anyway heres mine to get an idea

cups are pretty old school. what's common now is plating the lca (similar to this but welded in). then you have the 2 bolts on the bottom of the bag holding it directly to the control arm.

Tires were mounted today.... but the front stretch worries me. 225/35R19 on a 19x10. My tire guy says its a pretty extreme stretch but I've seen worse on here. I think I'll try them on and see what kind of clearence I get. If I have room I'll jump to a bigger size tire to be on the more safer side.

Alright had alittle time and just tried one corner in the rear... The front from my measurements from previous 19x9 +3 to 19x11 +7 is only going to push the new rim out 8mm which totally manageable. The rear for sure will need more work since the last set of 19x11 +3 was already touching the lip to the inside quarter panel. Now that I'm -5offset in rear I'm 8mm more in poking in the rear. Here is how it sat.

wonder if going with a narrower tire?
One thing i know and still trying to figure.. is the suspension geometry on these cars. the rear is weird.. I will compare it to the nissan s14 since it is in a nissan group. in the rear you put any kind of load on the rear it cambers in more.. with the F50 it seems not to do that so much.
Like even if you were to get the tire not to touch the fender.. the lip would.. Just shows that the multilink suspension does keep a full contact patch greater than those who dont have it. but that isn't what we are all about is it? :D
Oh looks pimp as fizuck!! l

The rear suspension is most comarable to 350z. I haven't seen many suspension but the Z comes close. The rear that is.. The fronts don't camber worth crap... only reason I have camber right now is because the RSR coilovers has an adjustment for max camber.

ok it's official I'm an idiot... I should have gone wider tires. ugh I had enough space to stick my pudgy finger in between snuggly which means I have about 10+mm left. Anyways I'm going to get some bigger tires from Nelson. BTW the fronts aren't rolled or modified in anyway. Stock it is somewhat half rolled so there is a good amount of space. I think I'll get them rolled and put the camber back to stock so I don't run through tires so much. Here are some pics.

damn another set of wheels haha. looks super sick though, why not just add like a 10mm spacer upfront?
and as long as your toe is close to zero your tires shouldnt go out that fast.

As I stated in the chatbox, I LOVE IT!!!!
It's a different wheel that most would not choose and would sleep on based on how different it is from what else is out there! This sets you away from the average looking style car! Like in Japan there's a few cars they will do a crazy wheel and it will stand out so much because of how well the wheel is pulled off and because u don't see it everyday or alot which keeps it fresh and making your car one of a kind! I LOVE IT!

I have a rear brembo kit that was custom made using the caliper and rotors from the Gran Turismo kit for a 330ci
