Roberuta Cup Kit

has anyone done this on their car yet? i wanted to know the difference in ride comfort between these and UAS or Airrunner.. i like the concept but is it really worth it?

Platinum VIP also has their own kit that they are producing now as well.. but the price of coilovers - 1700 + the cup kit 2800 = too much money? or well worth it?

I've heard that the Robuerta kit is great but has recently had some problems due to poor production.
 
I am riding on the PlatinumVIP Phantom cup kit and am really liking it.  It is everything I would want it to be, or would expect riding on air is supposed to be so i'm totally satisified.
 
Yeah the price for coils+cup kit is expensive, so as an alternative, Airrunner or UAS is roughly the same investment.  However, the cup kit worked for me because I liked the sportability of my Teins and the cup kit allowed me to maintain that.

well i got my UAS kit for dirt.. and now this comes along and it makes me interested. i just wanted to hear if it was better? because now u can ride fully dumped on the coilovers and be kool

yeah its horses for courses. a lot of people seem to get stuck on the fact you can have full bag-over system etc for the same or maybe less than a cup kit. but the idea of the cup kit is you're basically buying a very convenient coilover! So you get the static nature and good handling of coilovers with the ability to just pop up when you need to. Basically ride quality of a cup kit is going to be determined by the ride quality of the coilover they;re sitting on cause 95%+ of the time you will be sitting on the coilover with the cups deflated anyway..

I know a person in cali that has the roberuta kit . he says he likes it . 
 
but its a lot of cash .
 
unless the platinum cup kit is cheaper?

the app guide for roberuta (iirc, i don't have it in front of me) doesn't list a system that's cheaper than like 8-10k or so (nor do they list anything for non-exotic cars). bold world's catalog has a cup system by roberuta that lists for 4-5k, i think, and they have applications for non-exotics. i can check the catalogs when i get home. that's still much more expensive than platinum's $2800 installed special, haha

the roberuta cup kit is only good if you have coilovers and want to have a very performance orientated suspension and dont want bags because of the obvious performance drawbacks.... or if you want to just be different. your not supposed to drive around with them with air in the cups. just for going over stuff.

I'd wanna go cup kit just so that I don't have to make custom toe arms out of the OEM spring bucket since that's where the bags sit on my car, but I like the sound that air bags make.
 
I've driven in a G37 with UAS bags and the ride is really good. I thought it might be bouncy...nonsense. Still felt like a good and stiff ride.

I really dont knwo how I feel the whole coilover with bag set-up... 
havin mix feelings ..

im still confused a little.. should i be worried about my air suspension? i know i cant ride that low because number 1. its a van with a long wheel base. 2. im going to bottom out because i have done it before.. so what shud i do?! lol

as for #2 just get an oilpan guard made at a metal fabrication shop to protect what needs protecting and keep your finger on your air controller, just in case.... if you want some pics of oilpan guards so its easier to copy let me know. and if you want a trick on raising up the engine shoot me a pm....

Running this set on my GS for 2 1/2 years now. Ride is smooth but stiffer than OEM suspension. Coils will go lower than most coils.

It's a neat idea, but I like to drive low and park lower. Just my 2 cents

i can drift on UAS......i can go do mountain runs on UAS.....and stil be super duper low
and sportability and tein are an oxymoron btw.

Never said you couldn't drift on UAS or do mountain runs, and never said anything about not being "super duper low"
 
And I don't understand how sportability and tein are an oxymoron...  You've been flaming me ever since the first time I posted.  Whats the deal?

that statement implies that the UAS on Coilover somehow LOSES the "sportability" you coilovers that are valved for comfort and bump soaking upwould have on UAS. when in fact, correctly setup, they would INCREASE your "sportability" of your coilover.

Tein is like the worst coilover company when it comes to performance. all ther stuff is vaalved wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to soft to be good at anything but occasional spirited driving. until you get to the 2500+ range in their model lineup, then it gets good. Ive had everytyhing from 800-3500.00 coilovers. multiple times. I can tell you with 100% confidence, unless i got them for free, or a few hundred bucks, i would never buy tein unless it was for my moms car.

You know... Having a clue is based on experience, and I greatly respect your experience and the experience of others on this board. Never in any of my posts did I mention my "opinion" as being fact nor did I ever suggest that Tein was the best, nor that my experience would suggest so. 
 
Take everything with a grain of salt is what i'm saying. I mentioned in my post thats what I would "expect" bags to be like, so i'm not complaining about the Teins+cups... If they're better, fine. If they're worse, fine. ESVIP mentioned Platinum VIP so I thought I would chime in.
 
Shawn actually did mention a drawback to bags over the cup...  Which I would assume is based on his experience.

i also heard that platinum vips cup kit u can also ride them with air in them as well also.. lets  get back on topic homies! lolz

Yes, you can ride with air in the cup, but I think you can do that with Robuerta kit as well.
