Mind Teasers

You have 8qt jar of water you need to split in half (4 equal qt)
You have no measuring cup but need to get this done.
Using a 5qt jar and 3qt jar cup how can this be accomplished? :pat:

I'm bored.

Here is essentially how to start
8-0-0
and what you want is
4-4-0

Fill the 5 qt jar and 3 qt jar up with all the water from the 8 qt jar. Pour half of the water in the 5 qt jar into the 8 qt jar and then pour half of the water in the 3 qt jar into the 8 qt jar to make 4 qt of water in the 8 qt jar. Now pour the rest of the water in the 3 qt jar into the 5 qt jar and you'll have 4 qt of water there as well.

Remember there is no measuring cup so you have no way of measuring a half a jar.

fill the 3 qt into the 5qt
fill the 3 qt into the 5 qt again, now you have 1 qt left in the 3 qt bottle.
empty 5qt, fill it with the 1qt from the 3qt.
fill 3qt bottle and fill it in the 5qt bottle with the 1 qt already in it and you have 4.

Mice are known for their insane rate of multiplying. One mouse in particular can birth 12 babies per month. Mice also mature quickly and can reproduce 2 months after birth. You decided to pick up this mouse from the pet store the day after it was born.
In 10 months how many mice will you have.
