New Chevy Caprice- VIP style
On another forum I was on they were saying how they are going to release the new Chevy Caprice in the US as a police car only.
http://autos.aol.com/article/chevy-capr ... police-car
Thought it'd still be fun to chop it since it is a longer sedan with some power (even though we wont be owning it as the general public). Is it a traditional VIP platform or an attempt to appease JDM heads? No, but could still be a fun mod build. Im not a Chevy fan by any means, but Id love to try this out and see what I could make of one in real life.

Throw out opinions and stuff. You wont hurt my feelings on my quick chop or my want to mess with one of these. Ill be real interested to see one in person.

Look up Holden Caprice
http://images.google.com/images?q=Holden%20Caprice&rls=com.microsoft:en-AU:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SKPB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
That will give you a bunch more photos, in decent colours...
These are much lower in normal spec, and look 10x hotter. Everytime i see one i think to myself "thats an aussie vip car right there"

I had heard that was a Holden, but never really looked into photos of it. As a Holden, that looks real good. I hate the fact it is Chevy is my only drawback. Are they fairly well modded where you're at Dominik?

Its still a fairly new shape, and top of the range for Holden; so the only time you see them is when they are being used as limousines or hire cars. I am sure there are a few being done up somewhere, but I get the feeling it falls in the "too luxurious for the regular holden modifiers, too cheap for the luxury tuners" category.
I am sure there are a few of the HSV Grange going around though (the even faster version of this car)

i would rock it, especially if it looked like your chop.
the only thing throwing me off is the side profile. it looks to me like they took the front end of a CTS-V or G8 and fused it together with the rear of like an 03+ Impala.

That's actually a real nice car (figures that it's a Holden =P)
I wonder if they will trickle down to the public when they're retired from service?

there are a few ive seen modified over here. they have LED tails etc from factory, chrome accents and what-not. The thing is that no-one really does aggressive fitment on them over here, they're much more "dub" like with their modifications e.g. 20-21" chrome rims or black face with chrome lips rims.
these do have some potential though, also because parts are super plentiful here. i'm sure i could find some modded ones if i had a look...

VE Holden Commodores have been in the US as the G8 since 2008. The VZ Commodore Coupe (Monaro) has been in the United States since 2004 as the GTO. All they did was swap the steering wheel around and change the front bumpers. Really want to try and VIP out a VE Holden? Pick up a cheap G8, slam it, and go megaflush.
Dropped on coils w/ Forgelines, for those of you who want to know what it'd look like.
This is probably as close to flush/slammed as you're going to get. Use your imagination.

Statesman actually, but a LWB Commodore is still a Commodore. Sold in the Middle East as a Chevrolet Caprice and in China as a Buick Park Avenue. GM really likes rebadging Holdens.

I knew you would catch me up on that...
Badge snobbery is real though. Why do you think Toyota had to create the Lexus badge? So people would feel ok about spending 80k on a luxury sedan from them...
Its funny though, over here the chev badge is considered cool for Holden owners..

Badge snobbery is a fault mostly found in the US. The Aristo, Celsior, Cima, and Fuga sold just fine in overseas markets, but in these United States, people are so image driven that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan just had to go and create halo brands. Makes me sick. Plenty of good cars out there that get passed over on badge alone. Status symbols are for the insecure.

I've been thinking about getting a couple of year old Caprice and going to town with it. Probably would be abit subtle though, untill you mash the throttle then you'll see what a twin turbo L98 will do to a set of 20" tyres.
