99 Q45t with 183K...too many miles?

I was looking at picking up another Q and I found a 99 y33 in amazing shape...only problem is it has 183k.  The last y33 I had i sold before it got to 150k so i really dont know if there are things that i should worry about. If you guys could help me out that would be great.

Mine is at like 215k still running strong. just keep the upkeep and your good. I drive mine EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

What have you had to replace? How many miles did it have when you bought it?

^^^The ignition coils. Expensive but easy to do yourself. ($99/ea) Basic tune up. spark plugs fluid flushes and im about to do a tranny flush and replace it with redline. Early oil changes. runs smooth and have to check a couple of fuses but nothing has really given me trouble.

Its not like its a performance car so drive slow and take care of it. I bought it from someone who would commute from seattle to portland every 3 days so it was all freeway miles at 165k. I drove from seattle to seatac everyday and sometimes twice a day hence the new high mileage.

As stated, the ignition coils are the biggest thing. O2 and Knock sensors can run you a good dime and of course you want to test drive it and make sure the tranny is good.   I have over 150K on mine.

Any luxury car which is electronically limited to 150 MPH is a performance car IMO! haha, seriously, these cars can cruise at 100 all day and just nice and quite inside.  

Pretty much what the others have said though, and like I replied to your PM, the fact it's an original owner car and non-smoker are big pluses. Every fluid in my Q is Amsoil, except power steering: Valvoline Syn and transmission: Redline (only cause I got a free case) and I'm on 115k, bought at 75k.  I think I have an ignition coil going bad cause I get this occasional lumpy idle which never happened before and I've ran a bunch of fuel system cleaner and no change, besides I only run Chevron so my fuel system should be clean anyhow.

In my 5 years w/ this car:
2 O2 sens
Alternator 2x (both are OEM)
spark plugs to NGK Iridium IX
Map/Bar sensor (CA models only)
valve cover gaskets

And that's about it. *knocks wood*

Should never worry about mileage too much.

It all depends on how it's been taken care of.

I own two S-chassis(240sx).

A '90 with 60k original miles and a '92 with 40,000 original miles.

Both in amazing shape.

I've come across a few other S-chassis with low mileage but are beat to shit.

As long as the car is well taken care of, that's all that matters.

Hell, my friend's Honda Odyssey has over 500k miles and STILL runs strong.

but still auto trannys are expensive to fix compared to a motor..

I wouldn't compare 240's to Q's as when something needs to be fixed on a Q it's bit more expensive than a 240.
And cost of repair should also play a big part in purchase decisions. motor goes on a 240 just find another one.

But to just re-iterate, it all depends on care. I have 208k on my 94 and it still runs good.
Replaced the valve cover gaskets and plugs at the same time.

  I have also been considering a few 170k+ y33 but I would need to get this 240 sold 1st.

I decided not to get to it due to the fact they wanted too much for it and it needed some motor work.

You should of talkd him down for it. 
then build themotor maybe add turbo 
 
but good move I was looking at one too. around those miles. clean inside and out but needed motor workd done.

I argree its all about how the car was kept  my 97 240 has around 224,000 miels and it runs great haven't had to replace any thing and my 99q45 has 117,000 miles and all I have to fix was a powersteering line thats leaks But I to have seen some with some Q's with lower miles  and have had more problems than that so its all about the previous owner and How they cared for the car

My car has 240,000Km and other then a few suspension bushes gone, nothing else is wrong with it, Timing belt is due so that is getting done in a few weeks. Other then that, it serves me well.
