H1N1 vaccine

I work in the ICU and it is recommended for our staff to receive the vacc. Not every staff in our hospital can get it but workers who are in contact with patients are "advised" to get the shot (we are first priority). We don't have to but it is recommended for us.

I saw this vid and am thinking twice about getting it this week..

FOX NEWS...always the unaltered, non-propaganda truth!

Shit happens...it sucks, but it happens. I never get flu shots..haven't since I was a kid. Got around it when I was in the military too. I am hardly ever sick and when I am..it's a quick recovery every time. I've had friends with h1n1 and they said it was lighter and over quicker than other times they had variations of the flu. A couple didn't know what it was till afterward due to the symptoms. It's more important for youngens though, especially if they weren't breast fed or not breast fed long enough. Parents these days don't realize how important that is to a baby/child's healthy immune system.

havent seent he vid but she probably had an allergic reaction to dairy. H1N1 vacine is still produced using chicken eggs*:pat:

...one would think they had the technology to improve this whole method in the face of a pandemic

*For those that dont know how a vaccine is produced: A virus is injected into a chicken egg, it then feeds like a baby chicken would. Crack the egg and the virus dies and is turned into an inactive strain.

hella old school....but it works

I take it you mean poultry and not dairy since dairy products are those derived from milk not poultry.

But yeah i agree, i can't believe they still use that archaic method of production when they can go for thefaster and more effective kidney cell based method (less room for error with this method therefore yielding higher production batches that work), i guess the allure of the low cost of egg based production outweighs the severity of the need for the vaccine...
