then on 09/19/09, I was on my lunch break going to the in laws to get a bite to eat for free, cant resist the Filipino food :) and turned on mira mesa blvd from camino ruiz in san diego. As i looked over to my right to see if it was safe for me to switch lanes, i saw this acura tl bout to pull out of a driveway. So i stayed doing only 32-34mph and looked up again, the damn acura flew over three lanes with no blinker or even seeing me and hit me. I was tossed off my bike and witness say my bike flew over his car and ripped off his bumper. I landed on my right side on the island in the road.
After that all i remember was hard time breathing, blood, mp4 player still playing my wedding song, wife crying and my father in law teary eyed. I was rushed to ucsd la jolla and found out i bruised my ribs, bruised my lungs and had road rash gallore. But dig this, the guy says he was just trying to follow his navigation.
He was cited for illegal lane change. Claim I hit him We all know how that goes. But by the grace of GOD, i'm still here. In pain but still here. Check out the minor damage but major to the bike.

I'm sorry to hear that, glad that you are still here with us. I hate when cagers never look around and think they own the road. Was involved in an accident last year as well due to a driver making an illegal left turn.

Sorry to hear man. Glad you're alright.
It's the price we pay for riding. Got off my bike a couple years back and never got on again. Can't enjoy it when I'm constantly stressed watching out for shithead drivers.
EVERYONE should have to ride for one season before being allowed to drive a car.

glad you are okay man, I had an accident similar back in 01'. I gave up the bike game a little after that. I think in a way god was warning me to get off the bike. I have a family, I cant bare to think about my wife and kids w/o me in their life. God is great, he gave me a 2nd chance at life.

Marcus glad to hear you're alright. People are idiots now-a-days therefore you have to be extra cautious when driving.

Yeah man, I agree with everyone else, glad you're still here. I just assume everyone on the road is an idiot, try to stay on the safe side. I had to attend a funeral for my uncle's best man because some idiot wasn't thinking of anyone else on the road but himself. In a perfect world, we'd all be able to enjoy simple pleasures like riding a bike - unfortunately, the rest of us end up paying the consequences for those idiots. Glad you made it through.

Heal up and get back on dude.

It's a risk you take every time you get on the bike. I've been commuting for the last 5+ years on a bike and I probably have a close-call every month. The best advice I've been given is "ride like you're invisible." It's better to assume someone doesn't see you than to assume they do. I know this wouldn't have helped you in this instance, I'm just saying...

Last month I was riding home at like 2am and I was approaching a stoplight that had turned green 2-3 seconds ago. I slowed down just in case and this dude came flying through the intersection, probably would've killed me. I don't like riding on weekends or holidays either, too many tourists and people driving in unfamiliar areas.

Glad you're ok. I think navi's should be banned. Learn the route before hand, or stop and ask like we did in the old days. Too many people have gotten hurt with the other party saying, "I was following my GPS."

Kids and old people put so much faith in them that they've become liabilities.

~Cheers~

What pisses me off are the people who cut 3-5 lanes to get off an exit on the freeway...you can totally tell that they don't want to get off the next one and turn back.... and the people who do U-turns on NON-U-turn intersections and lights.

Around where I'm at there is a Seizure World...I mean Leisure World... They actually stop in the middle of the road on a green light and cross a whole lane to make a turn on that intersection since they are lost.

BTW I'm M1 licensed also but never really had much seat time. Friend advices me to track only...
