Ever stalled an automatic?

Last night I went to visit a friend who has a house in a gated community. Well entering, the bottom of my ride scrapes on the little tracks, that the big metal gates run on, and when I happened, I was already like WTF??? Well after like 7 speed bumps later, and scraping, I finally get to the house. Time to leave, and going over 2 of the same bumps I took going in, the car shuts off on me. At the 1st one, I angle over the bump, car shuts off, I restart it, get over it and gone. Onto the tallest bump I passed when coming in. Same thing, angle over it, car shuts off again, restart it, continue moving forward, but now this time the my ride gets hung up on the bump as my RR tire's no longer on the ground (over a speed bump!!!) So I try smashin the gas, putting it into reverse, turning the wheel left and right, finally getting out and pushing, while my lady's now behind the wheel, still no luck. Last resort, bust out the jack, jack up the car, set 2 2x4's (that I always keep) stacked on top of each other underneath the RR tire and can finally roll and get freed. And that was the toughest incident all night, I still had other troubles

Long story, but wanted to share it with y'all, maybe someone's been there. But I've never had or heard of car shutting off when going over bumps. And it started up right away, like if nothing had happened. Any ideas?

Honestly, but prob no the case, my car started shutting of randomly few years ago. It turned out that my battery connection was loose....it would have to be something electrical imo...g/l and let us know what you find out...

did you check if there was a puddle where you parkd? maybe you smashd you pan.. or like augdogg said could be a loose battery...

Nah, battery cables are on there solid. And no puddles either, the night was dry. Oil pan and trans pans have been scraped up, but not dented. I thought it'd be something electrical too, but I figured if some wires got shorted or if a sensor got unpluged, that it'd prevent the car from startin back up right away, or have a CEL on.

Car's driven fine all day today, haven't gone over any speed bumps, and don't plan on doing so either.

it's happened to me before too, but i haven't experienced it since

possible any wiring is behind your fender liners ? maybe your wires are exposed and when you go over bumps your tires are making wires touch and short out ?

it has to be something near your suspension or chassis, so when suspension movement is created or chassis is flexing .. then thats when it happens right ?

check your engine ground too

It has? Cool. I don't feel as bad anymore. Still sucks, but at least it may mean its not just my Q acting up

Fender liner??? What's that?? Lost em a long time ago hahaha nah I've, tucked my harnesses up and outta the way. It did only happen when going over them couple bumps, so I too believe its somehow flex related. But good idea on the grounds, gonna check them out.

The only time i've had an auto stall on me, was back in the day I was driving my cuzzo's 86 regal, and I turned the wheel all the way to get out of a parking space and it stalled. This happens alot with 80's gm cars. That's the only time though.

Very low fuel level with burned out warning light on the instrument cluster. Going over the speed bump may have pulled the fuel away from the pick-up.

I checked my grounds, and they're all tight.
And dont think it was fuel, cause i had just filled up the car the night before

Possible that your car wasn't warmed up enough yet?  I've had my car stall after a cold start...

Really??? Not sure if that'd do it, but i could've been possible, i didnt check that night. No other time has it stalled because of that, only those two times, and while i was hung up on the bumps.

sounds like a converter lock up to me..nothing serious.. if it doesnt happen again..

check your trans fluid.. or solenoid on the trans
