insurance group coilovers don't go that low

so, i've had insurance group coilovers on my y33 for almost 18 months now, and i just found out today how much adjustment i have on the lower shock mount for the rear coilovers.

crap. i wish i had the option of going 3" lower, which i obviously don't unless i start playing with spring droop. anyway, since when i bought these coilovers i couldn't really find very much info on them (other than photos), here's some more info for prospective buyers.

fyi, i'm running a 40 series tire on an 18" wheel in that photo. your results may vary depending on your tire/wheel sizing.

what length springs do they have? i have insurance on my 2GS and changed springs, so i went from 230mm long springs in rear down to 200mm so i could get quite low. but my fronts are maxxed out :(

so yeah i agree, they dont go low

I had them on my old Y33, never got to drop them all the way in the rear but my car was pretty low on 19's, tucking all the tire on a 35 sidewall

Hahahh that's funny cuz i have the same coilovers and the same wheels on my 97 q45, and right now i am all the way down on my front suspension, and i still have plenty of camber to put on, and tight the springs a little more if i wanna go lower, but on my rear coils i dont remember how much thread have left to lower it more, even the i am not runing after market RUCAS and toe arms, i dont know if that would make a difference, but so far i am satisfied the way my car is sitting. and this is my opinion, sorry but i am desagree with you guys. ;(

i have room to droop the spring more in the rear, but i seem to have hit the end of adjustment on the bottom mount. i might take it all apart and measure to see if that really is my problem. my front is maxed out, but i'll be able to slap on a shorter spring (thinking of getting some higher spring rate swifts) to lower it more.

btw, i'm on the original insurance springs.

33flavors, any modification to the coilovers? are yours all original?

VIPy33, got pics of your ride? Curious to see what you concider satisfactory height.

And charles, your crazy for wanting lower. Mine sits a lil lower than you and on 255/40 18's too, and I can't imagine going lower than that, and you want another 3 inches?????? It'd be impossible to roll like that without bags.

haha, i'd like the option of going lower. i've been saving up for an air-cup type setup, so ideally i'd like to roll tucking rim (which is about 3" away). right now, with static suspension, that's never going to happen. the concrete on my driveway is already falling apart =P

Here's what I got, just from looking at the gap from the lip of the rim to fender, I'm sitting a lil lower

Forum image

And this is my clearance on the rear part of the frame. Front part still sits lower, lowest part has gotta be at least an inch on mine

Forum image

Air cup is needed, let me get one of them systems too =)

yeah, you are a bit lower, especially in the front. i'm scared of lowering the front any more, cause i get stuck everywhere already. sigh. i'll take the car to an exhaust shop when shit dies down and have them section and raise the exhaust from the downpipe.

I know i could of, but just the way i am i already scrape a lot on speedbumps, and this is the second time that my left catalytic converter splits open, i guess i need to go the muffler shop to fix the air lick and see if i am able to raise my exhust a bit more.

Yeah, just saying it could def get at least an inch lower and be lookin hard. I would've imagined 19's on a Q to be right at the fenders. This is the closest I could get so far in keeping practicality. Scrapin every speed bump even eaten road reflectors, and 3 wheelin just about every driveway
