Dont Drink and Drive
tuesday night went out for a bday party. against my better judgement, decided to drive home five minutes as i had a meeting early in the morning. hit a puddle, hydroplaned, and hit a guardrail going 70 mph and flipped 2x on the 101. I woke up two days later in the ER. Somehow I survived with just cuts and bruises but walked away with my life.
Ive been on this forum for quite sometime and in the car scene for much longer. cant stress enough how much this has affected me and my loved ones. my cousin was killed last year on a motorcycle so this really hit close to home. i felt totally fine leaving the event, so much that i sent a work related email to a client which took some sense to write. someone was definitely watching over me. its a tough lesson, but im here yet another day.
take care/be safe VSC. dont take anything for granted.

Damn Ryan glad to hear you're okay through all that. Out of curiosity, do you know what your BAC was when you were admitted?

then again my attorney has to retest my blood tests because the BAC did not have a clear reading.
i am fortunate i did not have any passengers nor were any other cars involved.

You were driving drunk? If thats the case, although your okay, it would be hard for me to feel anything for you if you werent. Cuz thats just a dumb decision you made and your lucky you didnt hurt anyone else (someone elses loved one). If you werent drinking then, be sure to watch out for them puddles or drive slower/more carefully...otherwise:slap:

I mean how hard is it to call a cab or have somebody else drive you home when we have too much to drink. Your lawyer better be good because they don't go easy on DUI drivers in California. Expect a suspended license, massive fines & probable jail time.

I have a good lawyer and i am anticipating suspended license and probation. i am already under $5000 and expect about 2-3k more. i live in downtown san francisco so having a car is not practical by any means. i was paying $265/month for a parking lot spot on top of my $500/month car payment. it wouldve been nice to sell the car as i never use it but i was too upside down. so it KIND OF worked out.
its easy to call a cab. hell, it'd be 20$ as i was drinking in the mission district and live in nob hill (for those who know sf). but i had to drop a friend off in outer mission and wrecked on my way back. nowhere am i saying what i did was "ok" or acceptible. i know im glad im ok, i know it couldve been worse. i didnt post this for pity, my post was to inform or enlighten because SO many people do it (im originally from texas where you have to drive EVERYWHERE) and im young (23) so i see it so often.
I have a lot on my plate for the coming months. its an expensive/rough lesson so now i have to deal with it.

Glad everything went as well as it could....meaning you didn't hurt anybody else.

Glad your alright, driving in the rain aint fun, driving in the rain & drunk is 10x worse. Earlier tonight, gave the truck a little bit too much gas, truck went sideways and then before i knew it, the steering wheel jerked to the right hopped over the curb and was sitting on someone's lawn.

Glad you're still here and sound like you're doing alright. I've been in very similar situations in the past and know everything that comes along w/ an expierience like that. I got mine a few years back @ .22 - I had NO business on the road. I've learned my lesson. Hang in there, do what you gotta do, sounds like you've marinated on it now and have learned your lesson. Someone once told n=me that it's not what happens in life that matters rather how we deal w/ what happens in life that makes the difference. Hang in there.

^+1 to that.. it took me two time but I learned too and to be honest it was one of the best things to happen to me cause I was too afraid of going back to DUI class( cause thats worse than jail) so I never drank and drove again. But hey all I can say is keep ur friends and family and girlfriend ( if you have one) close because ur gonna need rides. Just speaking from experience DUI's suck balls but you will come out better for it. Ohhh yeaa fines are about 2-3 g's now mine was wayyyyyy more than that but for other reasons, also dont expect jail but they will give you some AA meeting and informal probation for 5 years at least this is what they gave to 90% of my friends down here in SD.

No mercy from me at all. you could have ended up killing an innocent person who had nothing to do with your ill judgment to drive while drunk.
