Picked up a W220 S500

Yeah I finallly got another car

2000 W220 S500 with the AMG sport package Black on Black (priced $13,000)
Bought (NEW) in 2000
Sold certified Pre-owned in 2004
Now mine in 2009

Not sure what direction I want to go in but it will surely be EXE

This will probably turn into a build thread.

Fortunately enough the S500 comes with airmatic -

Supension 1st - Ride Height Sensors Arms which are inexpensive and easy install

any wheel recommendations are more than welcome

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? nice pick up bro. can't wait to see what happens with this one. but i thought the that year of MB's are bad cuz thats when chrysler took over? then again, what do i know.

Congratulations on the new purchase, and +1 on the maintenance nightmares, not trying to burst your bubble, just telling you the truth. Most commom problem is the suspension goes out on those prior to like 2005 I think. Most def wanna register with online Benz communities MBworld, Benzworld and myMBonlie for starters. Plenty of tech DiY that you'll find usefull. Beautiful car though, black on black benz is strait sex appeal. Can't wait to see what you do w/ it. Strait Lux...

pockets are alright, obviously but yeah thanks for the info -  i never ran away from a challenge, i'll drive it until it breaks and then determine what to do with it - everything checked out on it - in at mercedes for a tune up currently and that was just for my own piece of mind

i love this chasis, regardless of the problems it has; its beautiful from a visual aspect.  Seeing as to how your y33 is my favorite stateside, i KNOW this project will turn out amazing.

LC1 should be fresh on the S...fullface wheels always look best on Benzs, the LC1 is a somewhat concave fullfaced but w/ lip. Can't wait.=)

I don't know, isn't the WALD kit for that model S a lip kit?... probably won't work w/ ///AMG bumpers if it's a lip kit. Give the US distributer a call.  Either your buddy will be stoked on some ///AMG aero and you'll get your WALD on or you could always get the CF lip for the ///AMG front bumper and have it colormatched. Call it a day.=)

it looks like to me that the wald kit will fit any non-amg bodied w220 (but i'm unsure if that holds true for zenki and kouki generations)

You are correct, the wald kits fit the non amg package kit. They have seperate kits for 00-02 and 02+.

That sucks about the non AMG kits.

Yay another W220!  You can take over the Euro class at the shows...I pass the crown to you.  Congrats and have fun with this build.

Is the car done yet?  Haha. I know this is gonna come out sick. Whether or not how the manufacturer built it, I'm sure youll work that all out. Haha

245/35/20x9 on the front and
275/30/20x10 in the rear

no issues just yet....the computer is super sensitive, the slightest thing it throws an error

tight! i just saw this. W220 is a awesome ride! I have a 02 s55. I think kits are awesome for it! But at the same time, i love the amg kit. My only complaint is the exhaust, I love it it sounds awesome at idle and moving fast, but wish there was a lil bit more. What exhaust did you go with? 
Also love the rear seats in them sooo much room! and all the factory ambient running lights inside are the best.
