new hks filter on my y34!!!
just got this in the mail and decided to put it on and the outcome is pretty cool, its still a work in progress i apalogise for the dirty engine bay, but plannig to put a bigger diameter intake tube and longer to fill in the void in the front. and while i was taking this just took other pics for fun. its an HKS DD (direct drive)

The idea behind this is to take the cold air from out side the engine bay to supply the motor ... What you are doing is only causing more harm and Burning out your gas ... put the stock system back ... Or extend the pipe open the Holes where the stock box firts and put the filter in your front bumper behing the Fogs ....

no doubt you are just soaking up heatsoke from the motor!

but one thing is right about the heat soak.
try extending it a little bit more and you should be good.

Thanks for the input guys yeah I took all that into consideratio I just put it on to put it on, but I will be extending the pipe more to get cold air but a bit low on cash ounce I have some money I will add new pipe to it.

Open the hole on the body between the frame and the fender ..you have lots of room and its easy ..in the mean time take that mushroom out the engine bay you are only BURNING gas and we all know with a y34 getting 13.5L on daily is good send number ..
save your money put the oem box unil you are ready ..hell you might save the pipe money form gas ..
