How many of you are actually running engine mods ???

How many of you have engine mods, how much power do you think you have now ?

Current Mods - custom cold air intake with 3" piping, generic brand 3" cone filter, rear muffler and resonator deletion with 2.25" straight pipe from cat convertor to generic brand N1 style muffler, NGK platinum plugs and 8.5mm wires

stock exhaust and intake was terribly restricted, Im hoping I have about 185HP and about 190lb-ft of torque...

pretty much all I can do for now until I swap in a 13B turbo...

I'm not doing much put I plan on doing a custom intake (because no one makes anything) and a nitrous setup.

Re: How many of you are actually running engine mods ???

There's nothing available for my car, and the Q45's MAF will get all gunked up with an oil filter like a K&N, so I'm sticking with a very well deisnged OEM intake. It's a true cold air anyhow, the intake is right in the grille. I'll get a custom cat-back at some point, but for now, I'm happy with the 268 hp / 275 tq I have.

why dont u run a non oil based filter ? its it cause of the warm air under the hood, if it is cold air box work well and look sic too...

Re: How many of you are actually running engine mods ???

As far as engine mods, I have a injen intake, jdm twin turbo strut bar, axleback exhausts (magnaflow mufflers w/ magnaflow tips) and tein cs coilovers.

I listed coilovers because the center of gravity will effect performance as well.

My hp gain would honestly be 5hp. :P

Re: How many of you are actually running engine mods ???

I did a CAI on my car only because my intake hose cracked. i would have kept it stock if it was still in good condition. it really didn't make a difference in performance or gas milage compared to having a K&N for the stock setup.

oh, i also have a crane cam hi-6. i replaced my OE ignition only because the OE coil went bad and i got a good deal on the whole hi-6 setup. it was cheaper than a brand new OE coil. the car runs smoother but it isn't any faster or produce more torque than stock. at least thats the way my car performs.

IMO, a swap for this car is the only worthwhile performance/ mod investment.

wow, i cant believe I dint know that, damn I woulda got a 94 LE maybe... "It boosts power to 161 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 201 pound-feet of torque at 3600 rpm"

that can be pretty tunable, I dint know that the torque was that high, this engine has some potential...

As for SuperCharged Eggs........they definately made it over to the US shores. How do I know? Because I got me one. They have a little "SC" badge on the left rear. Also my Fast Eggs (as they are nicknamed in Japan) is a 95. Not too sure as to when they stopped making them or if they ever did stop making SuperCharged Eggs. Infact I have seen the New Estima (Sienna) with a SuperCharger stock from the factory in a TREND WAGON or STYLE WAGON issue.

in my 92 Vigor...

removed the restrictive OE airbox and installed certain parts from a Chrysler Sebring aftermarket intake, and topped it off with a HKS air filter. Sound so much better, and pulls even harder. Maybe 210hp with 94 octane, maybe.

For sound and looks maybe but for "increased performance and speed" naaa.. why bother? how fast do you need to go? If you have any type of real vip application you have atleast a V6 maybe a V8 right? That Should be plenty of go in my opinon. What's the point of making your car look nice when your car becomes way to fast for anyone to see it...

Current mods on my LS400:

CA intake, Optima battery,
Lextreme alternator.

Planned mods:
distributors, wires, etc
Torque converter
exhaust
supercharger
otehr goodies for body like wheels, susp. etc.

To reinforce that last post, I guess I'm a good example. In town I go the speed limit, but I tend to drive a mix of aggresive and defensive driving. I don't believe in taking a minute to get up to the speed limit after a stop light, and I shouldn't have to bury my foot in the accelerator to get there. My LS can do that, but it could do that better.

On the freeway I fly. Thank goodness for downforce.

throw the 2jz-gte that needs a home into your LS400...retrodrive on clublexus did it. he's disappeared though, his website doesn't work anymore. i'm sure if you search his name, you'll find a few of his posts. it doesn't take too much work, just the supra mounts, and a custom driveshaft, and the wiring!

Not much right now..but plenty later. I have my Mina Gallery exhaust and intake on the way, along with doing the rest of the piping in oval to sit above the frame rails.

Later I plan to have my friend Geoff (runs a shop called Full Race) build a custom TT mani for me to run some Dual BB GT28R's. Similar to the Arden 4.0 TT (same base motor I have, but I'll be running less power). The ECU will also be getting reflashed, but I'll be running the boost control through a controller direct to the solenoids. (How I did my Z before). I think it should net me about 500whp easy...but we'll see how deep the pockets are when the time comes.

what does it cost to do chrome work like that...like say a set of valve covers?

very nice speedaddict!

i think this is my first post but i thought id just put up a list of what im currently doing to my 91' Celsior (LS400). I really like Go and show so: Eaton M112 SC w/ re-shim/stroke 5.2 liter w/ oversized valves, stage II cams, and mild porting. Aming for 650+bhp on the final set up.

I envy you guys w/ 2GS and 2JZGTEs. The V8 is suffice for me....for now at least.
I have a warm K&N intake and TRD oil cap that adds mad JDM-ness to it (lol, i kid i kid) the previous owner put on.

Considering a quad tip exhaust of some sort but probably not for a while. I want (need? on our 2GS) Poopura or LS400 brakes first.

i got a little carzy and started buying engine stuff this week:

imported oem variable im
shorty headers
wideband o2
jwt valve springs

the manifold is really what set it off since its no longer available in the states and i got a nib one. after that i figured might as well keep going since my upholstery money was short anyway. other things planned:

extrude honed im/heads
jwt cams
raised cr
built bottom end and tranny
greddy emu

lookin to hit 275-300hp all motor.

have a forum full of 1st Gen owners with 2jz-gte trying to egg me on to buy a jzs161 turbo 1/2 cut and swap it all over... maybe in a year or 2 :P

2JZGTE
Intake
Greddy FMIC
3" Blitz NüR Spec single exhaust DP back
cat is the downpipe on my car so I cut it up gutted it and had it re-welded
Sard BOV (not installed yet)
HKS BOV (extra)
Some sort of a piggy back unit made by AbFlug that is plugged into my ECU. Don't know what it is I've always had aftermarket standalones ECUs like Power FCs.
That is all that I know for sure. There are claims of more done to the engine however I can not confirm nor deny because I'm not tearing my engine apart for now.

More will come later such as a single turbo.
