N.Cal, Y33 (design & fabrication specialist)

howdy. I'm a new forum member here, but not new to forums (on Nico, luxuryJcars, 510realm, vintagejapanese, Etc.)...I'm "hillbillyhector" wherever I go. Name is Forrest, but my shop is "hectorschopshop" located in santa rosa (about an hour north of the bay) we design & build parts for showcars and racecars, build interior bits, and have worked with car audio manufaturers building A/V systems for SEMA & CES debut vehicles...it is very much my passion, and life. I also own a few vintage Japanese rides, (Datsun 1200 coupe, Mazda Rx2 coupe, toyota corolla te51, and a subaru 360 kei van...amung others!)

Anyways... Glad to be on here, mostly scorcing parts for my personal Y33 project, a Blk/Blk '99 Q45t. I'll be lurking... And hopefully making friends!

thanks again for all the complements and enthusiasm... I've been distracted by another vintage Japanese restoration project, getting ANOTHER  barn find datsun 510 wagon back on the road! (with some nice upgrades) but that is finally shipped off, and we're back to the honda... Rear suspension build! Damn Hector you guys do some amazing work at your shop. Glad you are looking into doing up a VIP Car. Should be nice to see what you have in store for your new ride. Welcome.

Cant wait to see how you use all that in to the Vip car ... We have been awaiting some more custom work ! 

What size wheels are you guys looking at because I know you can make the suspension part ;P

I definitely would like to go with something wider than a 10" wheel in the rear, as the wheels that are currently on the car

(an interim solution set of 20x8.5 & 20x10 +25 Sevas s-22, that I am by NO MEANS in love with, and I am very aware are NOT, in the the traditional sense a real VIP wheel, nor an aggressive offset, and fairly cheap and common... damn you gotta make some disclaimers to not get flamed around here, hu?) 

could be pushed out another 30mm, leaving enough room for another 60mm of wheel/tire to the inner wheel well tolerance points. (control arm/strut body) 

that said, there are a few wheels that I really like, and I feel compliment the timeless upscale euro-esque lines of the Y33... as long as they are 19x9/9.5 and 19x10/11.5, and close to 0 offset.... I'll just keep watching the classifieds here and the other forums, and see what pops up, then plan the body/suspension mods around that. either way, I hope to Not repaint this car for some time. it simply does not need it. My plan for the the suspension, interior & electronics however, are a different story.

luckily I am not too attached to having the most expensive/ lowest ride height, or the most ridiculous negative camber of all....and I still would like to keep the enjoyment of actually driving the thing! (it's my daily driver, and I own six other vehicles, four of which are loud slammed and obnoxious...so I'm not getting into the VIP scene for the offset/stretched tire/camber wars!!)

Wow, can't believe I missed this intro. Welcome Forrest.
As you've heard before, you got some nice builds goin. And the Q will get better as time rolls. 
Check the for sales for those fat ass wheels you're lookin for, doesn't seem like you're gonna cheap out on anything to make this one clean ride.

btw i think the vertus for sale on here would look dope on your Q. plus i think the offsets are pretty aggressive like your looking for!:shrug:

thanks for the encouragement... & yes, I'm really looking forward to gettting the Q a bit more presentable.... as time and money permits. the vertus are slick...but I keep going back to the AME shallen AX...or something similarly understated... but still not decided, obviously.

oh, and Wekfest...for sure I'll be there. glasses, goatee and a 'Hectors chop shop' jacket.

That was short lived. I hope you have plans for another VIP build. I was really looking forward to this build. You got the skills and experience to build a real contender.
