Who daily drives on streched tires?

With a lot of members' cars being slammed, and tires stretched, who daily drives on stretched tires? How do you deal with bumps, dips, curbs, debri, etc., from messing up your rims?
With the tires stretched, it "exposes" the rim more, and the rim has a more likely chance to get damaged.(right? ???)

i have 245's on 10's, and the inside of the lip on my rim (between the stretched part of the tire and the rim) has a few chips that "magically" appeared. i dont want more "magical" chips to appear on my wheels. i'm thinking its when i angle up into driveways, i angle too much, and it scrapes the concrete, or something along those lines.

those of you who's rims are unscathed, please help?!

I think your concern should be more how much camber you're dialing in, if you have 

excessive camber + super stretch

You're kinda asking for some bent/dented lips.

I've done around 500kms on the stretched setup so far (215/35 on 9J, 225/40 on 10J) and havent found any extra scratches that i can see

Front lip is about 1.5" off the ground, rear lip is a fair bit more, partly due to the higher profile, also because of the large camber.

But i am quite cautious in how i drive...
... Always make sure there is room around me so i can manouver quickly around potholes if needed
... Constantly watch the road and slow down as soon as i see rough patches
... Be aware that there is not much preventing the front lip from hitting the ground - always go up curbs, driveways etc with the [b]wheel hitting the curb front-on[/b] Since the car is so low i usually also have to do it at an angle, but i make sure the wheel is turned fully towards the curb when i go up, and i slow down to a snail's pace when i do it

I also carry a collection of blocks of wood in my trunk to allow me to get up curbs etc. My Garage has a 2" lip at the entrance, so i get out and put blocks of wood there to stagger it into 2 x 1" lips

19x11.5 275/30/19 

- 3.5 deg camber

daily driven.

I just realised, that the REARs have only done 500kms. Add an extra 1200km for the fronts (the ones with hardly any clearance). Thats mostly highway driving on unknown roads. 


What wheels have you got? Maybe they have a softer than average lip?

during the first week of driving on my new wheels i managed to drive one of the front wheels into the curb.

18x12 with a 265/35 around -7 degrees camber

i was pulling over to the side of the road and didnt realize how wide my track was. went right into the curb.

no other problems until i blew a rear tire out. just damaged a little bit of the inside of the rim. pics in another thread someplace.

225/40 on an 18x9.5 with no problems...

just be a little wary of potholes and bumps and you should be good...keep an eye on pressures too...

i have 17x9 with a 215/45/17..its an ok stretch,iv been to austin like 3 times with my car packed down with people and just came back from dallas,with everyone in my car as well. and it was slammed from the back. and i have no problems with the bump,dips etc..but then again i always keep my eyes on the road not to hit a dip or a bump. just check you tire preasure from time to time.

Ok, when you guys reply "daily" driven, does that mean taking it to work monday threw friday (more them a 5 mile round trip) ? 

 cause I daily 47 miles round trip monday threw friday and its my only transportation besides my RR

[/quote]i daily drive 50 miles a day round trip 6 days a week and 25 miles on sundays..

i used to daily on 215/40 on a 17x9 and 225/40 on some 17x10's. -3 front camber -4 rear, 0 toe. never had any trouble w/ the exposed lips. and i live on a single lane paved road(pothole city), where when a car is coming in the oposite direction you have to pull over into gravel/grass/mud. 

But daily for how long is the question that should be asked of a lot of folks replying... a few weeks or even a few months is one thing. A year or two + is another story altogether...

i've been on my above setup for about 1 1/2 years. i never let the tire pressure go below the recommended psi. often hit potholes cause of my crappy vision and our crappy roads.

I've been driving on stretched tires for about 5 years now. I've bent a few sets of rims but who cares they're only rims. Hawaii has some really shitty roads and drivers. Its totally dependable depending on what kinda driver you are.

the driver is definetly a factor also. i drive as carefully as possible and slow-as-hell. i wouldn't wanna see one of my sisters drive w/ stretched tires... they are famous for hitting curbs and going over medians in parking lots.
