Replacement wheel lips...

As some of you may have seen, I bashed my Garson wheel pretty heavily to the point of no repair.

The wheel refurbishment companies in the UK/Europe aren't that keen on 3 piece splits but agreed to take my project on.

After finding out that the inner barrels of two of my wheels were also damaged (doh!) they are having trouble finding replacement outer rims as they are "rolled" rather than "flat" or "stepped" (like European wheels/BBS wheels/Work Meister S3's).

It turns out that most Japanese splits use rolled lips and over here, there is pretty much no one who does them.

So...is there anywhere in the US, or even Japan who can provide me with some rolled outer rims? I have already got a price from Garson on the 19" wheel, but as my front wheel is an 18" and they've discontinued those, its proving difficult.

I have been told that Riverside make the Garson wheels, so i presume that they would be able to help? However, my Japanese is not up to scratch (!) so if anyone has any contacts in Japan/US that can help that I would be most grateful.

I'd rather not spend $4k on two new front rims and the replacement parts for the rears.

Or should I just say fuck it and buy some new Garson DR301's?! (i was quoted £6270 (about $10,000) in 19 x 10 front and 19 x 12 rears)

Not sure about the lips (you need some serious barrels to go with them rears right?). But for replacements, go through resellers like Fujicorp in japan for new wheels. Hardly any shops in Japan sell wheels for the RRP price, which is what it looks like you were quoted on. (Usually the price is a little over half the RRP). Either that or try a different wheel? Works are cheap...

Yup, as expected, Fujicorporation's price on these is WELL below your quote. They only let me see prices for 8.5/9.5 widths, but going by Garson's website, they dont go up in price too much between 8.5 and 10, or 9.5 to 12. I'd expect 350,000yen or there abouts. Including importers fees and shipping i couldnt see this being much over £3000?

Many thanks for that link Dominik, suddenly, everything makes sense!

It turns out that the inner barrels can be repaired and straightened, so once I get the measurement of my 18" outer rim, I will send that to Riverside and get one sent to me.

However, its food for thought with the DR301's...Suddenly they are a lot more affordable. Can Fujicorp get different width rims, do you know? I am not keen on weak widths, haha!

yeah you can order whatever you want through them. if the manufacturer makes it, they'll order it for you... that's how I ordered my work wheels - 4 different wheel specs (custom color, size and offset) for one set.
The website only shows prices for standard sizes though. you need an importer to place the order and get the real price...
