MATTE BLACK CAR in CALI....

whats up fellas. im new here but been around for a month or so. anyways, i have a 95 MB C280 sport that really needs a paint job. I was gonna go with the OEM pearl blue color to be refinished, but i came across alot of matte black cars including some MB's and now im kinda leaning on doing this myself. I just want to get some input from you guys how this paint job do against california weather. Ive read alot of forum's from google soon as i search "matte black" but theres a lot of pro's and cons about maintaining the paint so i wasnt sure what kind of weather they go by. 

I also came across vinyl wrapping the car flat black.

just want to see some inputs from the real guys out here whose done it themselves and/or vinyl wrapping their car with flat black.

maintenance on the paint and how it go about the weather we have in socal.

one more thing to add... i have leather tan interior with wood grain.

ive been looking for the samething from what I hear is that if you plan on daily driving and leaving the car to the elements the paint is easy to scuff or scratch and just cleaning it takes a certain type of soap that doesn't cause shine so it wont ruin your matte look. From everything Ive read I am thinking of going the vinyl route cause its the cheapest and easiest to remove if you wanna get rid of the car or turn it back to factory.

i think the satin black > matte black. either way should look pretty dope!!

Platinum VIP just finished a satin black Mercedes CL500.
it has dark rose mica paint on the roof, hood, and trunk and the rest is satin black.
it looks dope.

from what i heard, if the bodyshop doesnt know how to paint correctly, it can look blotchy.

i just seen a IS like that in SF just yesterday! and i also seen another GTR with that finish also. matte black is getting big out here in norcal.

Not very fond of the flat colors myself..

yeah...have to think it is just a fad. 
In a couple of years we will all be laughing at flat or matte black cars the way we laugh at spinners now.

Satin over matte IMO,

I would do a vinyl wrap because it protects your current paint and plus it won't hurt as much if someone keys you versus having a matte black paint job and once someone keys you its over.

This is very true. You have to find the right shop. The hot rod guys knows whats up. They've been doing this for days.

there are good satin black vinyls out right now.  but a good wrap will run you over 2k

hipro satin airrelease vinyl with laminate is what is needed

sweet. 
 
I would say go vinyl its a little cheaper and if you get bored you can just take it off.
but if you paint it your kinda stuck with that for a while and its a pretty expensive paint job.
 
but matte black with tan interior would look dope.

satin black paint job done right is very very expensive. its not the paint its the satin clear thats a grip.  and the prep has to be perfect.  so does the spray job, if it dont look right the whole panel has to be redone.  its not a very forgiving paint job.

If your panels are wavy (in a bad way, not the NY meaning) then it will show in the paint more then ever.  The body work, prep work and paint has to be perfect

for the paint job, my dad has a neighbor with his own shop... dude did my dad's 89 300zx cherry red after i put it together, oh boy it lookd SOOO GOOD> and only for $300.

he has a shop in paramount. but he jst hooked us up.
