tinting question

what type of tint is this?  im debating taking off my tint and going for a "fishbowl" look.  however, in this pic, it appears that theres SOMETHING on those windows, just not a colored tint.  My guess is its a clear metallic tint since it looks distorted?  or is it just the angle or the lighting of the picture?

I think it depends on the ambient light, colour of the interior and also whether or not the camera lens is polarized. I'd say that beemer has no tint, but i could be wrong

Alot of European cars including my BMW may have came with special glass that has that finish.

The glass comes like that from the factory.  It increases visibility in the rain and fog from what I read.  I am trying to replicate that on my windshield.  Maybe VIPtint+glass can chime in.

i can look for maybe an reflective 50, but it will have more shine than that beamer.  i mailed some tint to VIPDOUT, 50green, and 50metallicblue.  hopefully he will post pics when done.  im trying to line up a shop for him to get it installed but people are being pussies because theyre scared to put the stuff up in a film that they r unfamiliar with and ive told them it better be almost perfect.

i have a film thats called AIR80 blue.  its almost clear but has a lil blue and a lil reflectance to it.  let me see if i can find a pic of it on a whole car.  its high end full nano ceramic so its expensive. give me a sec

lmk if you ever find that out, you talking bout the tint the guys in japan are rockin on their windshields? kinda looks polarized or some shit? ive seen it in multiple different colors. looks sick.

No I was talking about the stuff the S550, Cl550, Bentleys, BMW 750, etc's come with on their windshields that looks purple

I got metalic blue 50 on my CC and love it.

They use a reflective tint with very high VLT (i.e. almost no darkness, but it is reflective silver)
 
I think you could replicate the euro look with a blue/purple reflective tint on the front windows Agi...

ohh yeah i know what your talkn now, the s550 have a slightly reflective tint on the sides oem?

Yea the side windows are real reflective like they are 60% mirror tint or something like that.  The windshield and rear windsheild have a purplish reflective hue to them though.  It becomes real obvious when people tint the windows with smoke tint.  The rear windshield looks more purple then ever

You mean like this. I like to tint my windows like this too.  I don't like dark tint.

What are most people using for green tints? I've seen batmobile's car and it looks like 35% but he said it's 60%

There is a clear tint that gives that look, it blocks UV and is low heat, a lot of guys use it herein AZ, but it's hella expensive... a friend of mine just got a quote on his nissan standard cab something or other... front and rear windshield, and the two door window's quote was like $225 on discount.... I hate to even know what the retail is....

there was an article on a clear tint in a recent modified.  maybe it was that, ill have to go back and try to find that old issue

just so you know both of those films will run you quite a bit of money. 500+ including the WS.  i am a 3M dealer and also carry the solargard UP film so i know.  

ive found a new 50 green but it isnt available to the US, tryin to line up a shop to order it for me and ship it out.

I need that stuff.  I was about to buy a W221 windshield and work it in there just for that look.  Thanks for those links

Being a 3m dealer, can you find out anything about that new 3M crystal paper?? I can't seem to find any info about it stateside.... Looks like sandpaper but with fine crystals all over it and adhesive on the back... (no, I'm not crazy)...

Think I found some, seems the other I saw had more crystals though (finer like sand paper grit)

looks like dusted crystal.  its a 3M film but its more like vinyl.  i have it.

I've seen it used for all sorts of stuff... from covering interior woodgrain that flows around the cabin to doing the exterior door pillars...

ok look this is another way you can go... they are tints but in reality you can't tell... from close up they look clear but from far or from a distant you can't see a thing. good way to trick the police you don't have tints lol...

did you see the link of a RL with some sweet tints. you can't tell it has tints.

I know absolutely nothing about tints...

but I think a green tint on black car looks super nice. I used to think it was ricey shit until I saw a few cars on this sit running it. Does it have advantages over dark tint or just a look?

vip tint+glass: do you know where I can get some of that green clear tint? No one local does that stuff. Is there anyway I can order it from somewhere and have it installed locally?
