not a vip ride, still trying to figure a direction in which i want to take this car, but heres my first big mod.

tsx projectors - got em from a guy who works at the dealer. he said the headlights came off a front end damage car, and they went ahead and replaced the scratched up headlights. projectors were 100% once i took em out of the housing
theretrofitsource.com e55 rep shrouds and AMP D2S adapters.
ddmtuning.com PnP ballasts bulbs and wiring kit.

prolly update to phillips 85122 or 85122+ bulbs sooner or later.

just thought i'd share :biggthumpup:

took about 8 hours of total work over the course of one evening and one afternoon. helped that we did my buddy's accord a couple weeks before. i'd advise working with someone who knows what they're doing if you've never attempted something like this before.

85122+ is an excellent bulb, i just hate the color it makes.  i drive a tl and tl's have great projectors.  i have zkw lenses and the 85122+ bulbs, but probably gonna switch soon.

i prefer a slight yellowish to white of the 85122+ than the whitish to blue these produce.

it's like 4200k vs. 4600-4800k.

anyone know how to achieve a signal light projector retrofit? is it simply tinting a halogen projector with amber? or is there a certain projector that the lens is already amber? bulb color? just throwing around different ideas in my head.

i used to love q45 retros on g's but now it's so over done, esp with the luxury mods bracket. i think a s2k with a e55 shroud would look dope on a 2gs!

Mike, don't you need to align those a bit higher? Doesn't look like it's touching down 75ft from the lights!

is that what it is suppose to be? measure out 75 feet and thats where the cut off line is suppose to be?? well crap.. going to re align right now!

Well, that was on an incline, and from what I notice when I'm next to other cars..my cutoff is much farther out.  I've never had any issues and can see quite far..so who knows, I never measured it.

Kouki, I believe that is how far out the cutoff is supposed to touch the ground, for projectors. Check HIDplanet.com/forums for confirmation, it has been a while since I've looked at the aiming write-up. 
 
Also, for most cars, you just measure 9.83ft away from a level surface and a wall, and align the 'step' 2.54 inches lower than the center of the headlight, for a 'proper' cutoff, and the point where the 'step' starts, needs to be the same width of the center of the headlights. Easy way to measure this, if you have DOT headlights, you'll have a dot or a circle on your headlights where the exact center of the lens is, that way you measure the height, from one, the width from both, and find a wall, and measure it out. I've found out that my 'levelers' on the GS headlights are off, and quite useless. Speaking of, I need to re-align my headlights! 
 
It might be 25 feet, now that I think about it. I have the diagram for aligning the GS headlights somewhere.

Much harder on 02 q45's since the adjustment is a complete pain in the ass to get to. have to pretty much remove the bumper haha.. oh well.. I need to check my drivers headlight since its still dimmer than the passenger one. It was that way before i replaced the bulbs :(

you're supposed to adjust the cut off before you seal up the headlight, inside the headlight housing with washers and so forth before you use the stock adjusters. that being said, some dumb bitch hit my fender about a month ago and i was lazy and adjusted it with the headlight adjusters. :(

How hard would it be to retro an LS430? Do you need to cut anything? or stuff just bolts up (assuming i get correct parts)

i don't think anyone makes a bracket like the gs q45 bracket. you'd have to cut it up. but half of the fun is chopping up expensive ass shit and making your lights look great.

PM RacinStyles, the dude who has the crazy turbocharged LS430. He's got Q45 projectors, maybe he can give you a lead on who did it or how it was done. He even posted his retro on the first page of this thread.

They are the lotarev knockoffs.  Looks just like any projector, it's just big as hell.

well cuz the q45 projectors actually kinda suck in terms of output and cutoff, they just fill up large headlights very well, that's why they're so sought after.

lol if i was g like you and had a second whip, it'd be no biggie, but i do the majority of my driving at night in this car. :sad: i need a bit of functionality, or else it'd just be wasted money for me. but q45's really do look GREAT on most cars. :biggthumpup:

you can do it yourself. just use an L bracket with long slots instead of holes.

swapped my tsx for fx45, i did an aite job, but i'm considering buying a set of depo headlights to redo them.

LOL it is true, and mine came stock with them.. and supposed to be the brightest headlights in the world? maybe my ballasts are failing.. cause night dry roads is bright, rain.. oh fuck no i take a different car

Morimoto Mini Bixenons. Smallest bixenons out there. Probably wouldn't fit in the fogs but they should fit in the high beams. Morimoto is a company that manufactures projectors just for retrofitting, and also they make replicas of OEM projectors and make them perform better by tweaking the optics and adding clear lenses. LuxuryMods should have some and if not, try The Retrofit Source. They come in D2S or H1 sizes. D2S is a little larger I think but I like using D2S bulbs. The H1 still performs well though.

Probably wont fit, as the fogs are limited in height not many projectors can be used.  If you want Thomas venture over to the cl thread where I did the comparision of shots of fogs with projectors, lense, and without.  If you like the way they look I can let you know what I used.

The projectors don't matter. It's the way they're installed. I didin't do my own retrofit so I can really give much information on it.

lookswise. I heard the q45 projectors have bad cut off and aren't that great. While the Ls430/460's are better in performance, but i haven't seen any GS's that have Ls430 projectors in them.

Richard's GS up top has the 430, and so does lexusscturbo's.

q45s are terrible in terms of performance/cutoff/light dispersion. they just look really great in a headlight aesthetically and they are not very common in the grand scheme of things.

one reason i didnt get Q's was alottttt of people have done them, and they are stupid pricey. ls460 looks good and as said light output is good,think 460s would look pretty good in a 2gs

wrd. 400+ for a set of projectors that don't have the greatest output is a bit ridiculous, but the market is there...

factory projectors that i took from some fx headlights i had. got factory bulbs and solenoid harness pigtail with resistor too.

what is the going price to pay for f50 headlights? I seen some on craigslist but dont know if its a good deal or not.

the enitre light assy? or the Gat's, i know the gats go for 500 plus sometimes just them selfs.

and has anyone seen projector retrofitted 97 Y33 headlights? Ive seen the xenon ones retrofitted with them, but not the older style ones.

I never new retro fits costs so much...good looking headlights..

look at junction produce they make the projector its like $240 per so you might end up paying the same as oem q45's but least their new! i know sessions on here were selling them for $450 soo up to you

Has anyone seen 95-97 ls400 with retrofits???? I'm thinking of buying some depo clear headlights and doing a retro myself I'm just curious on how it works I want low beam projectors i dunno if it's possible

ucf10 and ucf20 headlights look strange with retro's,  but that's just me.

Yea I agree with you on that it does look odd I guess its how square the headlights are I just hate the beam my headlights put out

I have no idea what peoples are on about with the F50 projectors.. those things suck when it rains out. Its not a mod at all.. Unless you have night vision. 

I want to make it one giant projector! muhahaha

Well I could get a a pair of F50 headlights for cheaper than what i can get projectors brand new from retrofit source lol.

wrd. light output and cut off is terrible and probably a step backwards. they're aesthetically appealing, but in terms of performance are terrible.

LOL yeah, I decided to pass on it. Even though it was a pretty cheap, civic headlights cheap. So i just put in my D2r bulbs with some homemade casper shields for now.

Honestly, I'm not sure, but it caught my eye, since no one really retrofits zenki celsior headlights, it seemed like a good example of what could be done.

do you guys know if any of the retro fit places offer services to clear out the headlight lenses. to make them clear like 33flavors. or is there any diy kits or videos showing the process.. thanks in advance!!

Not yet. I'm waiting on some other boards to be made for the sequential and I need my harness changed because these are all oe hid kits

ight deff post up pic. id like to see how the "hole" in the M shrouds look. noticed yours are turned upwards, mine are factory(both holes point towards the inside of the houseing)

People charge quite a bit to do them. I've seen some 600-800 labor alone I believe.

WoW! Allot better than the guy from club Lexus I was referred to. Quality for $800? Still working OEM stuff like the turning lights?

Honestly I don't really know exactly who, but i've read quite a bit an people charge that amount. I would assume it is quality.  

My retros it still retains everything from OEM, autolevel etc.

Very cool. I would love to get it done. I was quoted $2,500 and up lol! Of course I never responded.

for mine i paid around $500 with useing OEM M45 parts, granted i have to have my buddy redo them. 
 
but if your doing low and high itll be more for labor obv.

I don't mind paying for quality. Would not be very VIP lol! I also have no skills to do it myself.

lol I have dual projectors from Japan but they are JDM spec and built in Taiwan. Quality is "ok" but there are issues driving at night blinding everyone on my right lol! 

Anyways I can live without the OEM and I have them sitting in my hallway already.

who cares my s14.5 had oem s15 lights......blinding for days lol
