Going to Jersey, HTF

I gotta go to Fairview  New Jersey, which as far as I can tell is a small place. How do I get from the airport in Newark, to Fairview?

Is public transit decent in Jersey? Google Maps says it's like 1h40min from the airport to where I'm going in Fairview. Long ass time to be on the bus though.

Google says 20-30min by car, how's the taxi in Jersey, pricey?

Any areas to avoid between the two places, while on foot?

Apparently Winnipeg -> Toronto -> La Guardia is cheaper, plus I get to stopover in Toronto, and there are nonstop flights for each trip. And La Guardia is closer than Newark.

Except, based on movies and television, La Guardia looks like it's in a sketchy part of town. New Yorkers chime in?

La Guardia is not in a sketchy part of town.  Newark is.  If you leave your car unattended, it will get stolen in Newark. 

If you happen to pass by Camden NJ, tuck your chain in.

Taxi's are expensive, don't do it.  A trip like that would cost you $80-$120 from LaGaurdia.  Taxi's around here are notorious for taking tourists and out of towners the longest possible way to bring up the cost on the meter.  The public transit isn't the best in Jersey.  Look into Grey Hound bus' it might be cheaper to take a bus to a near by town and then a taxi for a couple of miles.

Aight, Google says 15ish miles from LG to my destination. Seems partially  walkable (to cut taxi fares), or is that ill-advised? This sucks, damn middle of nowhere town. If I work on my Jersey accent think I'll get a quicker cab ride? :D

Laguardia is closer to your destination in newjersey? that's weird since Newark is in jersey & laguardia is in queens...get the walking part outta your mind from either airport since newjersey is mostly highways until you get into the 
towns & there's a whole lot of water seperating laguardia & your destination in newjersey....I say fly into Newark & catch a cab,your probably gonna get beat a little but your already I  jersey as compared to catching a cab from ny to jersey...that's what you don't want to do.

The other big bonus about Laguardia is the non-stop flights from Toronto to NY, as opposed to Newark where I'd have to book and take a 6:30am flight from Winnipeg.
When I told my sis about the trip she said she wanted to come with and go to New York, so that's another reason to stick with the WPG -> TO - > NY trip, even if it's a tiny bit less convenient.

Then go for it.  If you really want to save some cash, there is a train that will go from NY to Jersey.  You will have to catch it in times Square Manhatten though which isn't close to LaGuardia.

Either way, make the most of your trip and visit the city.  NYC never gets boring, there is something there for everyone.

LaGuardia is not closer than Newark. It will take you roughly 25 minutes by car if that from Newark Airport and LaGuardia will definately take at least 40 minutes. You can take a cab from the airport and they will probably charge $50 bucks. There isnt a direct bus from Newark to Fairview

Head those warnings my friend, they smell tourists around here :shrug:. I am from Camden, but I live in Pennsauken,NJ now(which is next door). Good luck on ya trip!!!

Booked a flight to Newark, April 9th. Looking forward to the trip, but I won't get to see much since I'll be landing mid-afternoon and have to hit the road pretty much right away to be back in Winnipeg for Monday!
