Just got a g50 today, its in pretty rough shape, but I had to save it from the owner it had.
Keeping it as daily, just gonna get it back in shape with some good wheels.
Current status after day 1.

Nice. Welcome. Make sure the G50 is running right. Maintenance is expensive but they last a lifetime. Good luck in your build

Yeah, thats the first thing I need to take care of.
Oil pan is mangled from the PO, new one coming tomorrow.
When installing a new fuel pump, the PO damaged the fuel gauge sensor, and didnt install a new seal, so it stinks like gas right now.
Other than that, its just body work, and getting height and fitment dialed.
Hoping to grab some 19s within a week or two here.
Looking for passenger side : mirror, foglight, and rear door trim.
drivers side : headlight
If anyone has anything that would be great.

No, didnt come with the meisters. Just picked em up for now, got some other works for the back.
Waiting to hear back on these new wheels.
Side note, these cars are a pain to work on.
Skyline was base model NA RB25, no fun, traded for 02 gsxr.

Got the oil pan out tonight.
That was fun.... Definatley building a skid plate to prevent this from happening again.
It will be good to have the car with all fresh fluids, any other maintenance items I should be looking at while everything is out? What are these motors notorious for?

Got new oil pan it, its running good.
Got wheels on the way!
Taking out some of the rear coilover collars tomorrow, go a bit lower, and start body work.
Anyone have issues before with the digital display for the stereo working intermittently? Same deal with the heater.

valve cover gaskets leak, injectors go out all the time, and watch out for the coolant hoses under the intake manifold for leaks

it's gonna cost soooo much to fix a car you can get in very likely much better condition than yours for about $1500 USD
your previous projects look sick, glwbuild

Cost? I do all the work myself. All it really needs is paint...
Other than that, the car is mechanically good to go now.
Anyway, should be done soon.
Skid plate tomorrow, and hopefully finish the body work.

Awesome start! I just got a new oil pan for my G50. What did you have to do to take the oil pan out? Also, I'm looking to getting a skid plate for my car would you want to mock one up for me? I'll buy it of course.

Oil pan is a huge job. Take out pretty much all the accessories, then support engine with brace from top, drop subframe and suspension, then do oil pan. Sounds easy but its a pain on this motor.
Skid plate Im making out of an old pedestrian sign my buddy had. I dont even know how Im going to mock it up yet.

10.5 -7 225/040/18
way too aggressive. if they were 19s the rim would be smashing the fender.
once I get my new wheels, fitment will be more pracitcal, but still flush

Yeah, I could pull them some more, but theres no point.
I got some 19" 745i wheels coming, and they less aggressive. Should be here thursday!
Turns out a buddy of mine is parting out his q45 with mint black leather. So when I get time Ill be swapping out the beige, but no big rush, my interior is mint.
Also got a couple JP items on the way, and try and get this thing all one colour before I drive down to Coachella in it.

Wow! I definatley didnt think I would be building this car this much.
Bought infiniti black paint, enough for both my cars!, got my wheels, and got a donor car pretty much.
And the funny thing, is that I will be leaving on a 5000+ km roadtrip to California, up the west coast and back in 7 days!
In other words I gotta bust ass. Got all of the interior out tonight. Got the passenger doors off, dented from PO. Got the headlights, fogs, hood and bumper off the donor, It wasnt bad till the dash, turns out you need to remove the windshield to get at four of the bolts. Lucky the donor car has a mint windshield and hopefully Ill have someone coming to swap them tomorrow.
I honestly wasn't planning on swapping everything, but the donor interior is mint! I couldnt really say no considering I got the car for a pair of old Brides.
Got my wheels. Cant wait to have this thing done. The adapters that came with the wheels didnt clear the infiniti hub, but the fronts spaced out work and fit perfect, but the rears had to get machined, but I should have them back tomorrow. Then final wheel fitment / height adjustment ,might need more pull to fit these on stock arms.
Then paint.

And how do you get the shift knob off?
Got all the body work done tonight. Setting up my booth tomorrow, and should hopefully have primer layed down.
Waiting on my adapters still, getting them tomorrow night, its gonna be a close fit on stock arms.

for the steering wheel on my old G50 I used hex sockets from kragen, and for the shift knob you need to pop off the button with a screwdriver first so you can access a 12mm nut I beleive, remove it and then it slides off

Ya, Very lucky I did. I found 2 roaches and a little nug of weed. That could have fucked me big time over the border. It was under the carpet too!
Ok, got my paint gun, and the rest of the supplies for the booth. Time to go do final sand and clean.
