Liberty S500 W220
Chopstar lives a couple blocks from me and doesn't post on forums. He works at a body shop and can't consider getting a knockoff or even OEM aftermarket part because hes real anal on how things fit.
So far, he got some wheels that are CLS/SL fitment which is pretty aggressive for the Sclass. in order to fit them, he had to work the quarter panels, bumper molding (which is real thick and regid) and the rear bumper. The car is still far from done.
3pc GFG's
The moldings on the both sides of the wheel well and the rear bumper are in the way
He got a smaller tire and worked the quarter panel but still not complete
Thats the current state of it. He pulled out just enough on each side. The quarter panels will get smoothened down and painted. There will be lots of surprises in this build. With a nickname like ChopStar, you know he is going to go in to live up to that name.
I will keep you guys posted once there are more updates and pics.

Choppy is goin in. That bumper is 04-06 that means the whole bumper hood was changed to fit that 04 amg bumper. He plans to change the side skirts too. I informed him of the duraflex ebay side skirts but he wont event consider anything other than OEM. I applaud that.

Tell your friend and anyone working on w220s that this is where is he will experience the most problems when trying to slam the car. I would like to see how he will bodywork the moldings to get it to fit. This was my biggest challenge when trying to lower the car. The front is no problem just the back is a pain in the ass. Is he going to modify the stock air or switch everything out?

Nice look! Makes me want those wheels again LoL. As for the plastic that is stopping you i would take off that small chrome clip and as for the rear bumper... probably ahve to insert a small cut and pull it out a little. Then go back and clean it up with some fiberglass. Just saying.

Yea thats what I pointed out in the first post without the arrows. He is done, just needs to smooth out the quarters with a skim coat of filler and paint. With some work, he was able to move them just enough to clear. He is waiting to upgrade to adjustable suspension so he can lower it more.

does it rub? that pretty wide setup...and the tires pretty thick..
here's mine w220 ...i can stick the wheels out with additional 5mm .. right now 255/30/20.. in the rear..
probably go have to 245's to prevent rubbing
pics of right now..

He is on a 245/35 which is shown in one of the pics with the car lowered. The pic above was with the 255/35. Hes not rubbing, he had the moldings on both sides pulled out as well as the quarter panels. Its still a work in progress though.
Nice car BTW

Yes he sold it and picked up a Jaguar XJ8
As for the wheel specs, I believe the rears were around 20x10.5 +20
Here are a few more pics before he got rid of it. He just swapped out the engine too :(

Yea El Pres started the trend along with pictures of the nicely done vip style versions in Japan. Not sure of the year but he got the x308. I think his is a 99. He doesn't keep cars for long but he said he would keep it until next year.

nice! Maybe i should do up my 99! Though I like it stock since it is almost a sentimental investment. Since its rare for that color and wheel base. No heated seats either, cali car. Hardly any for sale like the one i have. Though I do want to put the bigger newer XJ rims on it. hmm...

Not at all, the chassis is bigger than VIP chassis'. It's the design of the wheel, a full face and chrome at that, thats makes 20's look huge. I think they are proportional to the body. I prefer 19's though

He put the newer one in it. Not sure of the exact year though but it was low mileage.
