FML....

so to those of you who know me and know what i've been doing and my plans..now my plans have gone up in flames.......literally! 

i was up near stevens pass with 6 of my buds for a snowboarding trip in my previa..so it was a nice fully packed van with all our snowboarding gear. when i was about 10 minutes away from the resort, my van started jerking and all the lights came on. so i pulled over to the side, and smoke started coming from my front hood(since my engine's underneath, i can't really call it my 'engine bay'). so i popped open my hood to cool down my van and air out the smoke. shortly after..the cabin started filling up with smoke coming from the vents and under my seats. 

everyone in the van began to evacuate, when i started walking around to the passenger's side..i looked underneath my van to notice there was a small flame underneath..so i warned everybody to get back and evacuate..within 6 minutes..it went from a small flame under my van..to engulfing it in full flames!! :cry:

after the firefighters got rid of the flames..this was all that was left

and the best news..my auto insurance wont cover the snowboards and other properties that were in it the car..fml......

AWWWE Man, sorry to hear. Like the others said, I'm glad you're all okay and nobody was hurt. Things are a whole helluva lot easier to replace than loved ones.

wooow that's scary. so do you think some debris got caught and lit on fire, or maybe a fuel leak?

I'm sorry that all happened to you, bud.  I'm glad everyone came out healthy, though.  It's a shame that the insurance company is jabbing you on the snow gear. :(

Damn.... This is partly why i carry a fire extinguisher in my car. Seen it happen while driving to pick my gf up one day. Passed a car on the side of the road with smoke coming out of the hood, came back not 5 minutes later and the front of the car was on fire.

thanks for all your concern..it does suck just watchin it burn to the ground without anything to do..its not like i could blow out the fire or anything. as for the reason..im not sure..all i know is that my temp gauge read just fine..right in the middle..and everything seemed good before the drive, and before the fire during the drive..so i have no idea..they never even said if they were going to investigate or not..cuz it would cost between $1500-2000 to find out..and i dont really care by then..i know im already down by hella since my car and contents arent covered

as for stuff done to it..not much really..all i did was fix the windshield and the transmission..i was saving everything else so i could do an all-at-once type of thing..i guess for now, i wont be doing that =( so i still have my kouki taillights as well as some interior parts..i will either sell them..or save them for when i resume this project..which im not sure when since i have a lot of things to get squared away first

so i guess that'll be one thing ill be buying for my lexus and any of my future cars..a nice fire extinguisher..i used to think it was lame to have one..and people just had it in there for looks..but now..after this..im getting one even if it looks funny..its about safety!

sorry to hear this....btw did u have different tire size between front and rear? possible the diff burn!....i have a friend got his subaru got burn down after driven 30kms on highway....all because he  replaced 2 rear tires with 5% higher profile!

That is intense man.. I know how you feel. I was a bit more lucky on my fire incident but, I was at a gas station where it happened when my s14 caught on fire, and the attendant wouldn't give me a extinguisher!! I pushed him out the way and grabbed it.

Its a huge state of OMG WTF am I gonna do? and it's that total feel of panic and helplessness. Ferrari has an opted extinguisher for their cars, mostly in the Challenge cars, but for good reason! So when you do get one.. make it look cool like this :

you can mount it in the trunk with a distribution system on a switch. that's what they do in racecars.

WoW, I'm sorry about your loss and I know how it feels when you actually see your car burning in front of your eyes, I lost 4 cars in one night. 
 
It's a good idea to have extinguisher but the worse part is when you find out there is not much in them, and you wished you had a bigger one ...

wow! yours looks worse since it looks like you invested quite a bit into that..im sorry for your loss too! but yea..its a terrible feeling..how did that happen btw?
