3pc welded wheel help please......

Ok so I got me some Lsportline wheels that I just picked up for my lexus and all four wheels are curbed bad so I start to take them apart and to find out that these are 3pc welded wheels which are ok come to find out from the search button, oh ya did a massive search before this post on 3pc wheels, but the question I have I can't seem to find so I'm hoping the wheel gurus can chime in  and help me out.... the centers I removed and the wheel is all chrome I dechromed the centers because I will be sandblasting with fine sand and clear coating. the barrells I found a place in socal that will do the repair and rechrome.   OK the question-----> are the centers suppose to be hard to put back on?  I mean arent they suppossed to be just tapped in with a rubber mallet and not pounded the shit back on.  If that is the case I am haveing is it ok to get some sandpaper and sort of go around the ring where the outter abnd inner barrells meet and just keep sanding all the way around in a uniform way until I can snug the center back in without having to pound it back in?  any help would be really appreciated..

sounds lke the chroming you had done to the barrels is the problem. the chroming probably added a slight amount of thinkness... but very little bit... you should be able to knock it down by sanding where its a tight fit...

well when I got these wheels they were already chrome.  What I am saying is when Ifirst started to take them apart I took one apart first and I used a rubber mallet pretty hard on it to get it off, then I was like wow that was pretty hard so I dedcided to try to put it back in abd when I did that I was literally pounding the heck out of it to get the center back on....now if thats the case will sanding the ring hurt the wheel overall----> example wheel vibration if the center is not a tight fit going back onto the barrell.  I mean isn't snug good enough because after you put the center back on the bolts will hold it into place anyways right.  hope that explains it better.  sorry for any confusion, I just want to know if sanding the ring to get the center back onto the barrell will hurt the overall performance of the wheel i.e. vibration..  any help would be great..

Well there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. I work for a wheel manufacturing company so I've seen stuff like this all the time with barrel replacements. 

Sanding a small amount should be fine, balancing should fixing any problems. What people don't understand when it comes to wheel rebuilding is that it's more then just reassembling. There are spots on the barrels where it's slighty higher, "aka" not a true/rounded and sometimes that alone can set back a build. 

Good luck bro, it should be fine. Another way you can go about sanding for a smooth even sand down is by putting the face on let's say a balancing machine and letting it run. Apply the sand paper and watch it sand down. Works much better then by hand but not as safe if your not cautious. That or your car, BUT that's more crazy. lol
