i like, what size piping did you use? 2.25 is optimal for a stock 1uz motor.

Im using 63.5 mm pipe, how did you figure optimum piping size for the 1uz?

search on lextreme and clublexus, a variety of tests have shown that ~2.25-2.5inches MAX (for the 2uz/3uz) is the optimal cross between exhaust flow and exhaust velocity. too big and the velocity decreases greatly, causing a loss of low-end torque.
with 2.5in on an early 1uz you will probably feel some loss of low-end torque, especially in comparison to a 2.25in setup.

Actually, when i did the exhaust i experienced some power loss in the midrange. From a start "leaving from a light" the car gained tons of response and power. a few days later i put a drop in K&N filter and used a whole saw on the airbox and opened up some breathing and it made a world of difference no mid range loss and screams all the way to red line. I had searched and found no real test just internet say so.
Im thinking the X pipe design is a winner in my situation. Also think about this, they sell 2.5 exhaust to mustangs and most of them make less power than the 1uz. what size do you run and what are your results?

i run 2.25" piping, cats back w/x-pipe. noticeably bettter low/middle end, top end seems slightly better, though its not as noticeable.
MUSTANGS run 2.5" piping because most of them are either 5.0L or 4.6L motors....
