Air Runner Install Tech Article for 03 M45

The tech article is finally done and gives a really good outline of how to install the bolt on air suspension for Air Runner for the 03-04 Infiniti M45. I did a step by step writeup on the specifics for the 03 M45. 

I did not go over the basics of wiring and plumbing the kit since it is really well done from Air Runner. I tried to focus on the specifics of putting the kit on a 2003 M45.

The gallery has 135 photos and go step by step through the install process with the instructions under the appropriate pictures.

Thanks, I think it could help anyone doing an Air Runner or similar kit on any car. I hope leaving out the basics of plumbing and wiring was not a problem.

I use a pitman arm puller on the front tie rods but a hammer works too :D

Yeah we did not have one of those. My mechanic said something about the tool splitting the boot if you use a tool, this way you don't need new boots.

That is true the tool is hard on the boots!

If your are mechanically inclined and have access to air tools this is not a bad install. We did it in 11 hours with a lunch break and taking photos and documenting the process. It should be something a few buddies can handle in a garage in a weekend.

to add to what jadey34 said, if you're really pressed for time, you can always break it up into 2 weekends. it'll take long but you'll be able to take your time. first weekend is just wiring up the compressors and running air lines, basically the trunk install, and second weekend is putting the suspension in. this is how i'm going to do my air install.

air tools make a huge difference, we did springs on my car in an hour with air tools and a lift, and my cousins did his coilovers in about 2 hours. granted we have access to a full garage hence the lift and tools, but if you have access to air tools, it's highly recommended.

I would not recommend to even try this without air tools. The suspension bolts around the control arms etc would be very tough to break loose if you did not have them.

yeah i just read the install. it looks like a fucking bitch to work on. still one of my all time favorite nissan chassis though. i guess you could always use a big ass breaker bar with an extension though if you don't have access to air. :shrug:

Yeah I have to say the guy who did my install was awesome. He did all the mechanical work and his friend did took apart the interior and ran the electrical wiring. 

I basically just handed them tools. 

It was nice that he had experience installing other air suspensions before and the other guy had done a stereo in a M45 before and knew how to take the car apart.

I will say that the "bolt in" air runner kit seemed to be a lot easier to install than some of the other air kits that I have seen put on the Y34. There was nothing really over the top about it.

I'm seeing a lot more M45 running AirRunners now! I'm starting to lean more to AirRunners than just regular bags and coilovers! Seeing that AirRunners are more easier to install. My plan was to roll on JIC coilovers for awhile and then put UAS on them but I don't know if I want to go through all the work when AirRunners already did the work for me! I don't know, I'll just have to wait I guess!

I did my first 2 installs in around 8 hours each.  Impact Gun and a lift is highly recommended.  The more I look at this, I kinda want to do my install myself.  Dammit, I was trying to get away with NOT doing my install but this reminded me on how fun it was for me as well as how easy it can be.

Air Runner is a nice system. I did my install in about 10 hours total. That included install the ride height sensors for the dakota digital management.
