Super Star wheels quite nice
I'm kinda surprised these haven't caught on over here... then again I'm kinda not surprised considering their price, and the fact that the majority of import car folks in the US are cheapskates. If you guys ever look on their web site (
http://www.superstar-wheel.com/), take note of how many different options you have when ordering these things new...beyond your choice of something as rudimentary as rivet/bolt colors, you can choose reverse or regular rim halves, and also a curled or flanged lip, etc. It's amazing. And there's even way more info and pictures (and fitments like the super deeps) featured in their print catalogs, which btw are awesome cuz they have large pictures of hundreds of cars with all their wheels with fitment listed, in addition to extra info on what was done to the cars to get them to look the way they do in the pics (i.e. lowering, cambering, fender processing, etc.). This is a company that is truly ahead of the wheel game imo. The quality and design of their wheels is just mind-blowing, too... I'd personally consider them one of the top 3 wheel manufs from Japan. Price is high, but you definitely get what you pay for... this might also be why you only really see their wheels on just a few of the higher echelon cars in Japan. My main gripe is how ironic it is that for a while Konig wheels used to be the official US distributor for Super Star wheels! Just checked their web site recently though, and it looks like with the last change to the site, they no longer mention anything about SSW, so that might be a good sign.. since they never did actively push the wheels even when they had distributorship.
Hmmm question is... would people in the US even be willing to pay more for wheels like these?

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
I love them, i have wanted a set of Ordens for the longest time. How do you get your hands on a SSW catalog? Also oneton what are your top three wheel manufacturers, you always say top three and I always wonder what three you think are the best.

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
Didn't want to start a new thread... but I am inspired to get the car off jack stands now:
EDIT: Don't mind the smegma on the rear qtr... just residual hot glue from sticking foam blocks to the side of the car. It sorta really detracts from everything right now though...

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
19x10", +19mm with 245/35-19 f/19x11", +6mm with 275/30-19 r. Going to prob eventually go with 235/255 tires for a tad more clearance all around. The rears as they are right now are pretty much almost perfect (rim clears fender by like barely a piece of paper thickness), but the tires are wide enough that they rub the rear part of the fender arch. The fronts are actually spaced out with a 10mm spacer, but that's only needed cuz my fronts are cambered more than a G50's usually would be...The fenders are slightly pulled front and rear (just enough to make the inner-most bevel of the fenderlip almost vertical, so it's imperceptible to those not familiar with G50 fenders). I'm kinda really digging the departure from a polished, flat lip tho... this definitely looks more industrial

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
This setup is actually a tad more conservative than the most aggressive set of wheels I had run on the car, which were viplife's gliforts... this pic is from about 1.5 years ago, literally right before the car went up on jackstands... notice it hasn't moved from that spot in the new pics
:(

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
these might be more conservative, but they look nicer. those^^ stick out too far and make the car look old because they are an older style vip wheel. the super starts really make the car look nice. i tink they compliment the stying very well. money well spent.

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
Agreed, the Gliforts for this car were a case of a little too much... although I still got them to tuck under the fender instead of sticking out like an eyesore... they were definitely just a little much. Oh well... definitely gonna get the Q on the road again as it will be time to move shop soon...

It's not a question of if anymore.. but when. As soon as this one project car is outta my hair, it's all about the Q again. Gonna just finish putting the air susp all together again too so it can roll to new shop vs. being towed to new shop... which might actually be a little further up north (semi-closer to union city)...

Finally signed up here, great setup there. It is great to see something different in the states.
I am also surprised they haven't blown up big here as well. I believe a company in burlingame is supposedly importing their LeonHardiritt line.
Their barrels have the same press and stamping as most of the Riverside wheels. I assume since most of these top wheel companies are in Osaka they use the same barrel hoop makers.

Re: Super Star wheels quite nice
SSW and Super Star Wheels are two totally different companies. SSW is a Singapore-based company with an operation in Thailand. In fact I think SSW stands for Singapore Stamford Wheels. They sell cheap knock-offs, no difference from Konig or Lenso.
Super Star Wheels is as Van puts it, is the top echeleon of wheels company that comes out of Japan...
