spring rate recommendations
Hello all, I am looking for opinions from the experts here for my daily 97 es300.
The vehicle already has ksport coilovers with spring rates of 10/7. i personally like how stiff the car is, but it just doesnt cut it. With wheels that poke the slightest bit, the edges of the lips still ride on the fender with a 1.25" difference between the the fender and the rim. I have started searching around, but suspension manufacturers have been recommending 14/7. but i have also read reviews where people that have switched from ksports to other brands, say that even though the ksports were softer spring rates, they still ride stiffer than stiffer spring rates of better brand coilovers. so my guess is that 14/7 will still be somewhat similar to 10/7.
Here is a breakdown of the vehicles curb weight at distribution ( f/r - 63/37% ).
the vehicles curb weight is 3374lbs. suspension design is independent on all four corners.
63% x 3374lbs, the front is roughly 2126lbs. each shocks weight is roughly 1063lbs.
37% x 3374lbs, the rear is roughly 1248lbs. each rear shock weight is roughly 624lbs.
The vehicle has not been corner weighted. this is a general breakdown from the information found on the internet. I am not looking for a comfortable ride. I am wanting something that wont destroy my car or my wheels.

being an ES i guess its a bit different. in saying that, no im not expert, but i have scoured quite a few japanese VIP mags for spring rates
i see a lot of the japanese guys dont run a lot less in the rear than the front. they tend to be somewhere around 20/18 or 22/18 or 24/22 etc.
i personally am running insurance coilovers with uprated springs, 18/12. i still think its quite soft and am wanting to upgrade to the Tanabe Low Down Spec coilovers with 22/20 rates and heavier damping.
the only FWD car i have noticed and noted springs on from a Japanese magazine was a red KA9 Honda which was running 18/12, same rates as i am.

well, i think that the small difference bw front and rear spring rates is because of the weight distribution ratio. this is just all logical. because you dont want your rear to be so stiff, that your fronts are working extra hard, making driving the vehicle unstable. do you see what im saying?
i guess my question is, for the weight of the ES and the distribution, what would people recommend?
this may be crazy, but i was thinking 24/f and 18/r? but i dont know if this will be like riding on rails with no travel whatsoever. but at the same time, i guess this is what im searching for, since im thinking about throwing my project wheels on the daily. but they are far more aggressive than what i already am riding on.
