Why Hyundai should scare you more than Osama Bin Laden

thought id start sharing car related posts here since i started my blog back up. i had fun with this post, enjoy: )

Unless you’ve been living under a rock as of late, you’ve probably noticed that Hyundai has been trying to shift focus brand focus. It seems like they are trying to reimage the company from being the cheap, unreliable cars to those that compete with the likes of BMW and Mercedes Benz. The big problem is that they’ve already built up this horrible brand stigma when they came to the USA and Hyundai has yet to do anything significant to address the issue. Sure they’ve made these fallacious claims about their cars being nicer, faster, better, roomier, etc. but it’s all just heresy in my opinion. Recently, I came across a set of pictures that truly proved the epic failure of this company. The following pictures of the new Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Turbo feature some of the worst editing, and attention to detail I’ve seen in quite some time:

I definitely have no plans nor do I want to own a Hyundai, however, the warranty of 10 years 100,000 miles is hard for other companies to beat.

haha the photographer should be fired for sure ! i think the quality of the car looks good , i cant talk haven't bought one

haha yeah. i still think the car has some potential but the pictures...whole other story there...

on the flip side, hyundai heavy industries?

The new Genesis coupe and sedan are pretty solid looking cars...I expect the coupe to blow up the tuner scene within a year when they are more readily available.

Yeah...so I don't get the title.   I was led to believe that Hyundai makes orders to kill non believers or something radical like that.   I still fear Osama Bin Laden way more then any car company ever will.

I don't see why Hyundai is such a bad company...  Yes they did make shitty cars before.   That doesn't mean it will ALWAYS be that way.   They have improved greatly and the awards prove it.    It isn't like the days of the Hyundai Excel.     I remember back in the Rodney King days...  The joke was the officers said he was pulled over for speeding around 90mph..  People would go thats a lie because a Hyundai excel can't go that fast...
 
Then there was a LAPD joke....  How does the LAPD play cards...  4 clubs beats a king.  (I don't think that was racial rather then his name just happen to work like that.)

I don't know if you have been living under a rock but Toyota's quality has been declining....

I'm surprised China hasn't tried to make and sell a cheap reliable car with their crap load of industrial know how and the sure man power...  They already know Americans eat up their cheap products.  I think India is trying.   The key word is "reliable" here.   Would anyone here say a car from China would be "reliable"?   I can for sure say "cheap"

I do know they copied the older Eclass Mercedes..  Almost identical from the outside.

In conclusion...the people to fear are the Chinese.   They will be the future and power house of the world.

Funny, look back 30-40 years and the same things that everyone says about Korean cars, was being said about Japanese cars that we all drive now. 
 
They were seen as unreliable, and had zero credibility.
 
Now Korean cars are starting to prove themselves (funny enough, just when Toyota and other Japanese cars are starting to have reliability issues). I reckon in 10 years Hyundai/Daewoo/Kia etc will be household names and synonymous with quality.

Meh, they are cheap cars, that look nice. 

Lexus was a cheap car, that came out against Mercedes back in what, 89? Look what they did in 21 years. 

Really dude, it isn't that big of a deal. My mom drives a Santa Fe, and has not had any problems with it, since the day she drove it off the lot. 

Sure it isn't as quiet (ac/fan is kind of loud) nor does it have as much sound deadening, but dude, it's a cheap car, good warranty, and reliable enough. 

They also don't have brake/throttle problems like some cars are having, or say some LBJ breakage problems that Toyota/Lexus refused to make a TSB for, and said it is a part that wears out (at 50-100k? Yeah right)

So yeah...every car company has their problems, and ragging on an add that wasn't touched up properly/shot properly doesn't make the company a bad one.

Bleh.   Kinda weak.  Im anxious to see what Hyundai does in the next 5.  They've made leaps and bounds in the past 2-3 years that I have seen.  Ill probably check out the luxury sedan when it comes out, just for my own curiosity to see it.    As for the criticism of pics, go nuts.

You see, the pictures are exactly the problem. With a company as large as Hyundai who is trying to compete with BMW, Benz, Jag, etc. how can they release pictures like those to the media to promote their product? Product photography or high-speed auto photography isn't rocket science. I've shot on the track for many years and know first hand how amature those shots are. 

So that comes back around to how can I trust a company who releases pictures like that with my life in their car? What other things are they skimping out on if they can't promote with good photos? It's not like there aren't people who could have helped them with this including Demmit, or my friend Antonio from Motor Mavens (people from our industry).

It was just a funny situation they put themselves in =)

I own an Azera, I know its got a crap badge but hey I cant really complain I love how it looks and its really hasnt given me any trouble. With a 0-60 in 7.2 it's not that slow, but hey I do realize people arent going to give much respect for Hyundais but like others said the same was happening to lexus and acuras 10 years ago. While I do agree Hyundais Fucking sucked untill 05 with all their cars, since however they have done a great freaking job. Look at the Genesis in sedan and coupe form, you cant say they look like shit. Anyways I am biased but hey I gotta rep my company!

But on the other hand, most of those editing mistakes aren't noticeable if they weren't pointed out.  Just saying :shrug:

I see where Prashants thread was headed...  Hyundai should have caught that ish a while back ... and makes you wonder ... but the newer card seem to be quite nice but we really don't know until you buy one or someone you know has one

I think its quite a stretch to say poor editing of a picture reflects negatively on an entire company. As a typical consumer I would never have noticed anything was wrong with any of those pictures.
As far as Obama is concerned, Bush got 2 terms and theres noone in the world that could have fcuked things up more than that idiot.

Until Hyundai plots, plans, and executes orders to murder 3000 innocent civilians, I'm going to say I feel safer with Hyundai than Osama.
