About to make a long distance trip....

That is roughly about 4 hours away. I'll be In my Lexus since it's the only car I have. I just want to know how safe is it to drive that far of a distance with stretched tires and running negative camber?

Currently the set up is: 

airforce cup suspension
20x9+30-225/35/20 and 20x10.5+29-245/35/20
last time my alignment was done  the toe was within spec but camber: I'm running -2.5 in front and -4 in the rear. I'll be getting me another alignment later this week. 

Another thing I wanted to know is how safe would it be running a universal spacer on the rear without the extended studs?

i wouldn't run a spacer that wasn't hubcentric, i did for a while, and i carefully torqued it every 50 miles for the first 200. makes for a lot of vibration. if i were you i'd stop every 100 miles or so and make sure everything is as it should be.

There's a rumor 2 guys took a LS and GS on a 1k+ mile trip max camber on 30 series. ;) Seriously I dont recommend the spacers, but your set up is fine as long as your alignment is proper. We faced little to no issues and tire wear was very minimal-fyi make sure you take a spare bc [I]Murphy[/I] is always lurking.

my set up is very similar to that. i just drove 800+ miles and its fine. but different roads and different tire wear etc etc. bunch of factors. good luck.

i go los angeles to palo alto about 6 times a year -- 225/40/18 on a 18x10 and a 245/40/18 on a 18x11.5, -4* front and -7* rear camber. not too bad. just check your tire pressures before you leave on each leg of the trip.

you should be fine, just keep tabs on your tire pressure and make sure you have a plan in case you run a flat.  a big NO to the non hubcentric spacer tho. legit spacers are like 80 bucks on ebay..

Ditto, just came back from a 1300km (800mile) round trip, something i do 4-5 times a year... On 4deg/f 5.5deg/r camber, and 235/35 on 19x10 and 225/35 on a 9"

But one point, if you are driving at night, make sure you stop every couple of hours. Not for the car, but for yourself. If you try to push through, you will be tired, and less likely to be able to spot/avoid a pothole etc on unfamiliar roads.

I take planks of wood with me, just incase something happens, cos a normal jack wont fit under my car and it would be a nightmare getting onto a tow truck!

I always carry 2x6's with me, whether it be long distance or short. They've saved my from bein stuck on a speed bump, helped me get onto a tow truck (which still took like 45 mins to do LOL), and everytime I need the rack my car at work, they come in handy.
Then its just like like any other road trip with a normal car, and like in previous posts mentioned, check your tires, check fluids, and be safe and well rested. You should be cool with that stuff

i forgot to mention i might have like 2 or 3 passengers on this trip and my car is already right at the rim in the rear! i will have some luggage too

if you're still on cups over coils, might want to raise your coils up then. enough to compensate for their weight and luggage and still be comfortable.

Jack up the coils in the rear to compensate for the extra weight. Otherwise your alignment will be out of whack

I have no time bt work and my bizzz :( o well ...well I'll check the tire pressure to make sure it's cool. I had no time to raise up or get my alignment :( it's only my sister sitting in the back with 3 light backs in the trunk not that much weight added. I think I should be fine what you guys think ??

I tried to got firestone everyday but I get off so late they say they are backed up everyday =\

sucks dude. if it were me, i'd do everything i could, but i guess if your sister is a small gal then it shouldn't be a huge problem. i drove to orlando and back from houtex with the belts starting to show on my tires, dumbest thing i have ever done in my life. i look back on it and i want to smack myself in the head. if there is anything you can do to make a trip safer, i'd recommend doing it, time and money be damned. its not only your own life and those of your passengers in your hands, but those driving around you as well.

Yeah before my last trip i took the afternon off work and had my tires flipped. I also went to investigate the reason why my front drivers tyre kept losing air. And found several big cracks on the inner sidewall... Ended up leaving later because i had to find some cheap tyres to replace the fronts after that!
 
 
But if its just one person in the back thats no problem that you arent raising it. Just chekc your pressures etc!

Im sure you driving your car over 4 hours accumulated through out the week, i dont think it makes a difference wether you drive 20 hours a week spread out or 4 straight in a row. I've driven my car 100+ miles a day and no problem. DOing a few out of town shows his year so I will be doing a couple road trips. Ill be buying a new front tire and a new rear tire to carry just in case.

How about renting a car?  They're not that much money, fun to drive it like you stole it, and will be a relatively stress free change of pace!

the big thing is doing it straight shot, the building heat and constant stress on a road trip vs. 30 - 50 miles a day giving your suspension and tires a chance to rest and settle.

i could be wrong though. :shrug:

but who really wants to take that chance when you're going so far from home? :runcoold:

better to be safe than to be sorry in the middle of the trip :slap:. If you take care of your car right now, your car will take care of you later on.

Driven 900 miles in 3 days....exactly how it loks...dont worry you will be ok.
