245/35/20 or 255/30/20 which would give more clearance/stretch on a 10.5?

245/35/20 or 255/30/20.... which would give more clearance/stretch on a 10.5 +16? looking at using nankangs.   
 
I tried using a 245/30/20 nankang and it wouldnt hold air so that was a waste of money and before I take that plunge to throw down some more money I could used yall's help.  
 
My current set up for the 10.5 is 255/35/20 falken azenis st115.. Which from the looks of it runs pretty narrow but still doesnt clear my rear fender and is hitting the tip of my rear bumper.

Personally IMO I would never run a 30 series tire. It's jus too small of a tire for my taste. W/ that being said, if I had to choose, I'd go w/ the 245-35.

i was running a 255/30/20 Yokohama sdrive on a 10.5, that stretched like a dream!!! but since the shop fucked my tires up from taking the tires of to flip they made bubbles in the tires and caused to to shred. now im running nankang 245/35/20 they stretched nicely but i kinda like having the 255/30 back. either way you should be fine with those 2 size but i would lean more towards 255/30

Your on 19's tho... I can see how 30 would be ridiculous. I tried 35 on 20's out back and hated the stance.

IMO 30 series is jus to thin of a tire which causes more chances for a dent/bent rims.
 
If it matters (probably not lol), I use to run 245-35-20 on a 10 when I had 20s :shrug:

I tried to fit a 245/30 nankangs on my 10.5 butttt I guess the tire was to small what tire brand are you using?

^^^^yeah I did...and I found some pictures but no one was rocking these dope but cheap nankangs on a 10.5.  I had  the 245/35's mounted on 30 mins ago and it worked out just fine ...soo thanks G! and to everyone else that replied to this thread

Too bad I couldn't fit a 255 on the on the 12. I had to settle for a 275/35 and its hardly a stretch.

Only 452s... I tried running a Nankang 225 30 20 on a 9 and that didnt last long.

If you want my professional opinion do not buy Nankang tires. These are some of the crappiest tires on the market. Yes, I understand if you are on a budget but getting a shitty tire is definitely not the way especially if you are planning to stretch. I've ran them before in the in the past and I had one blow in [U][B]3 days[/B][/U]. The proper tire size you should run if you are only doing a mild stretch is 245/30ZR20 or 25530ZR20.

If you want a better quality tire without hurting your wallet I would suggest Falken FK-452 or Bridgestone RE760 or Yokohana S.Drive

If you have trouble airing the tire up, try looking for a shop that has a bead blaster.

Nankagns aren't that bad! I ran them w/ no issues for about a good 2 years and Falken 452s have had their fair share of horror stories as well. Matter of fact, my front set I'm running now has been acting up. I think in the end, it all depends on who and how the tire is installed. If done right and careful, you should have no problems. I'm pretty confident in this from my past experience and anybody who knows me and my car knows I've had my fair share of vists to tire shops lol 
 
Oh and that Bead blasting thing is sketchy as sh** and isn't needed nor would I say it works that well, meaning, if they have to use that, then they're not doing it right :P

i look at iot like this: if you know your gonna be doin some dumb s**t (i.e. camber, rub, donuts, etc.) then why invest a lot into it. i can (have) f**k off a $75 nankang in a day and not be upset about it.

Good looking out Justin.  I'm not that much on a buget... I just wanted tires that stretch good for clearance.  I've ran Fk452's and they've bubbled on me in a month.  I've actually had 12 sets of Nankangs and did not have any problems with any of them.

Almost everyone who has ran fk-452s bubbled at some point, where as nankangs are still going strong. The nankangs have a stiffer sidewall, but the downside to these tires is that it gets really noisy on uneven wear, and they have a very low treadwear rating.

I would go for a 245/35 on a 10.5. Although the ideal size would be 255/30, you are entering bent rim territory.

The only flaw comparisson is that I've been able to ride longer on completly worn out 452s than Nankangs.....I'm pretty convinced now that I'll be switching back to NAnkangs
