n00 lil project.. Need a GOOD tire..

Well some of you know me, and some dont. Either way, i sold my 1st gen acura tl back (the satin black one with gold lipped vsxx works) a few months ago and have moved onto a 06 pontiac gto. Ive already done TONS of stuff to it, and am waiting on my wheels from ccw currently.

These cars are few and far between that are tastefully done up correctly. After much work and measurement, ive discovered the doccumented "9.5 inch rear is the biggest that works" nonsense is horseshit, ive ordered 11 inch rears.

What im curious is, i need to run a 265 35 18 rear tire on an 11 and am not really into POKE. Now typically id just select a fk452, but this is not like my tl. This car should make close to 700whp and over 650 ft lbs of torque at the rear tires... so i kinda need a tire that will not result in just driving around bouncing off the rev limiter sideways all the time because its too hard/does not hook up.

Has anyone stretched a pirelli pzero rosso or a potenza pole position onto something like this? I actually contemplated stretching a 265 35 18 mickey thompson et street radial 2 as absurd as it sounds.

anyhow, heres a teaser of the fitment mocked up at ccw ..Forum image

Forum image Heres the only shot ive got. (after swapping to 04 hood and before having holden front end painted and adding front splitter).

Cliffs notes: I need a tire with GOOD traction that i can stretch onto an 11 thats a 265 35 18 that will not result in something with POKE. Suggestions are welcome..

Thanks in advance!

Sick. I come from Pontiac's myself. I almost bought one of these when they first came out.

Vredestiens stretch fairly nice (but they run one size big) and they have great traction.

haha nice work with the monaro... that rear shot of the carbon diffuser is a western australian plate, which is where i live. cant say ive spotted that car around though.

saying that, even though there are shitloads of these around here in australia i have yet to see one with fitment looking like what you got test fitted there so i am looking forward to see this too. you may even end up with some sort of feature in an aussie mag!

still waiting on my damn wheels. sigh...

rolled/pulled, dropped, aligned, tires in the garage, lug nuts in the garage. just no wheels..

prolly put the rest of the parts on asap though. Valve spring compressor finally showed up. (heads, cam, valvetrain, oil pump, timing chain, underdrive pulley, water pump, injectors, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, nitrous kit).. big install ahead of me..

thanks man!

i literally deleted anything about it off the gto forums. Those guys MEGA hate it. Like i cant even express the extent of the hatred. Like pm's in my in box that just said "FUCK YOU RICER, WAY TO RUIN A NICE CAR"

I guess ill have to shoot for Max Power or Euro tuner or something if i want any sort of shot at some press on it. The wheels are in shipping. I swear i feel like tyrone biggums driving downtown to score some rocks. I cant wait to put these wheels on there and see what this looks like. I have NEVER seen anything even remotely close before.

Cool project! There was a blue one here imported from the US (we didn't get them in Canada) that I test drove. Nearly did a trade for my F50 but the condition was not that great on his GTO.

Oh man the hatred. I could see that. I'm sure some of them are about fitting 275s on 8.5 wheels sunk in the fenders for the most traction.

needs dropped about 2 inches in the rear, 10mm spacer.(maybe even a larger tire)

Needs dropped about 1.5 in front with a 10mm spacer. Better safe than sorry i guess.

shitty shots of it so whateve. I was just so anxious to get them on the car to see what it looked like that this has no setup on the suspension or anything...

As soon as im done on the dyno tonight, the front goes down another inch also, I need an alignment as i have positive camber in front. Then i may need to put a 10 mil spacer in front so it doesnt look goof troop with wheel well gap or bread truck offset.

Toy car style. nikkor 2.8 tilt-split 85mm lens status..

still under construction, way more to come..

this car is FAST now may i add. Like no problem 11's on slicks. No idea what im going to have my hands on when i throw another 175 horsepower to it on spray. Im really gunning for 10.99s or better out of it N/A though, may have to add some more hillbilly horseshit.

You good sir, have built the best looking GTO ive ever seen period. I havent seen too many true, but i no longer desire too lol.

iirc one of the first ferraris was called the collo rosso which translates into "redneck" because it was one of the first convertables and after driving it you typically had a ^.
might not change your view on the word but i found it good food for thought.

thanks for all the nice compliments. I didnt expect this much love being a "domestic".. I think its really sad how much credit pontiac tries to take for these cars. I hate domestics typically, but when i drove this car the first time i fell in love with it.

Imma continue to try to bring this car back to where it belongs as far as styling goes. The gto culture HATES this thing already though. lol.. must be doing something right then...

i dont have any build threads. you guys and my hybrids.jp friends are the only ones i share my builds with. Everyone elses ideas suck and i have nothing to share with them LOL....

There is a funny thread on the gto forum about "hellaflush" where they are all ragging on stretched tires, and im pointing out that 100k dollar d1 cars slide 3 inches from a wall on stretched tires just fine?

Wow their are some assholes on that forum. Nothing like a good forum fight to make me lol though; always good for a laugh.

That being said; nice GTO. The FC is nice too but I'm not a fan of swapping piston motors in rotary cars; just my opinion. The motor is badass though.

Yea it's unfortunate as years pass, more and more jerkoffs get into cars. Oh well I go there just to laugh. Haha

Don't get me wrong, rotarys are cool, but i ran 129 traps with just a 3600 dollar engine at one point. I add some cheap parts, it's 140s .I can't even get a good turbo for that. I'm just trying to go fast here and I need 5x the displacement for my level of addiction. Haha

My thoughts exactly. Im so embarrased telling people its a pontiac still. I HATE pontiac. Just saying it makes me feel like joe dirt. And the funny part is NOTHING is pontiac. Even the pontiac shit is all made by "arrowhead inc. sidney austrailia" according to all the stickers. They just crooked it and tried to take credit for it cause those dumb hicks discontinued the trans am and needed another muscle car for sales. By ripping holden off, and badging the monaro/cv8 as a GTO, they got their missing high performance car in the lineup.

This thing came with altezas, that horrid penis tip front bumper (like every pontiac from an aztec to a gto has), and silver vents inside and all kinds of tactless trash. Pontiac really is a disgrace to car design, well WAS. lol...

I literally had this bumper en route before i even had the car though. Like i bought the car to put the bumper on immediately. Forum image

next items.,... Tried to get some input from gto dudes again, turned into another 2 pages of arguments. Just asking about who makes urethane side skirts. Dudes were calling me "the hellaflush kid" and blasting on my shit left and right. haha

anyhow heres the idea, figure the only people i can run this by are logical heads like you guys since those dudes are all inbred hicks.

The stock sides gotta go. Im not into them, and they sit flush with the rockers so i cant side exit the exhaust through em. Thinking of getting these and cutting a hole in the side, then exiting a tigged sectioned radius(like lots of big jdm tuners build hardcore race car intercooler pipe and downpipe radius's) stainless ovalized 3 inch pipe out the hole. Pop rivet a sheet metal heat guard around the hole and call the exhaust a day.

The rear diffuser guy is being a doushe also. I ordered it 2 months ago and hes not communicated anything, as well as IMO the more i think about it, his parts are for hardparkers. Im trying to build this like people put together cup cars and NASA cars. His carbon piece is more or less for cosmetics and fit and snaps in with sticky tape and screws.

The sides are kinda bizarre with the bodylines, but they are about as good as whats out there and im going to have to make due. Im sure with the exhaust coming out them with sheet metal plate guards they will look considerably different.

The rear diffuser im going to make with hex core dry carbon sheets, and hand laid pieces, and pop rivet/bolt everything together. This s2k below has the idea, but may have gone a bit bigger than i plan to go. Either way this is the idea so far. Im trying to make this totally different from any other car ..

Getting ready to get heads and bump the compression up a bit.

Should put it around 515-530whp/470-500wtq id assume.

After a few pulls, its pretty scary on the big end. The splitter in fronts addition def. helps. When deaccelerating, when i lift i can feel the front of the car remain planted considerably more with the splitter.

Now instead of buying the riceboy hardparker sticky tape on carbon diffuser i was going to buy, i am just going to make my own. Ive been looking into 3M dry carbon laminated honeycomb hex sheets, then cutting to fit and adding as necessary. Hopefully with this using a 7-10 degree stalk angle (the fins), i can generate a little more stability at big speeds. The only issue with this is, the material is OUT OF CONTROL expensive. Like 1000 bucks for a 48 inch x36 inch 3mm thick sheet. This has made me consider possibly using thin gauge (not so thin that it is major flexible however not so thick its heavy as hell) aluminum sheet metal, then powdercoating it black satin or black wrinkle when its all done and assembled. Ive also considered using ABS plastic like my splitter, but am unsure of how durable it will be in a setup like this.

Beyond this, id say the next items are the side exit exhaust as mentioned before using those sideskirts in the previous post. I also planned on adding some sort of canards as well.

Of course the GTO hicks are saying im a rice boy, and track racer dudes i know are saying im a ricer for adding it on a non track car.. Personally, i guess im a bit careless. Ive already had this car close to 180, so i dont really give a shit about tracks and being a track car. I have just as much useage, if not more (since when i wreck, im either dead or going to prison), therefore im making it as functional as possible and it is MOST DEF a necessary addition. lol..

The end goal of this car should not really even look like a street car. It will hopefully look like a btcc car/lemans cup car with no decals on it or something to that extent lets hope. As long as it looks like a cartoon that has come to real life, im good with the outcome..

More to come..

well nothing like destroying brand new 3000 dollar wheels

titanium "look" was junk imo. My car had too much of a "tuner" feel to it. I want street serial killer look. Mulligan!
