This is one of the most important days for Vietnamese Americans. The fall of Saigon occurred on April 30th, 1975. It was a day when the Vietnam War officially ended and the start of a journey for many evacuees. Over 2 million Vietnamese residents evacuated and suffered through a journey many will not forget. The evacuees encountered obstacles from communist fire on boats to pirates boarding ships to harass refugees. Many young Vietnamese Americans should remember this day that either their parents or grandparents went through as a reminder for where our culture comes from.Today, many of these Vietnamese residents are disperse around the world and continue to live their life of freedom.
What you can do? Tell your friends and yourself to wear a black shirt in the remembrance and awareness of this tragic event 35 years ago. Be united in heart.
There is no event for this, all you have to do is to wear black.
