Has anyone removed the armrest top on 03 m45

I had the leather around the button on my center armrest pulling up. You can see it in this picture.

It annoyed me enough today that I cut off the leather leaving me with just the padding. I am deciding what to recover it with but want to remove just the top folding section to make it easier.

Does anyone know how to do it? There are two small screws on the underside of the inner tray, removed them.....nothing happens. If I pull the rear ac vents you can see two posts that look like they are holding it on. you would need a 45 degree screwdriver to get to them though.

Before I start hunting around I thought I would ask.
