Polish wheels with clear coat Vs none

im getting my wheels refinish, and the company i went with screw up the 1st time around and trying to fix them. the lips r fully polish with a machine finish, only down side to the machine finish, is that it has these circular ridges from the machine which he says its normal. i was thinking of just getting it fully polish but the guy says that if i do it and clear it, the clear wont last long. another guy says its better to leave it unclear to get maximum shine + u won't get clear peeling down the road.. im kinda of undecided if i should clear it or not, i heard if u dont clear it, it takes alot of work to keep clean vs ones that r cleared.

so, should i get them clear or no? iff i don't clear it how often do i have to clean the wheels?

clear will effect your shine. clear powdercoat will be more durable than clear coat. raw polish is a headache to keep perfect (you have to actually polish them constantly, not just clean). you're getting legit info both ways, just gotta make a choice.

i wouldn't clear the lips...if you do decide to clear them, i would use scratch resistant clear that MB uses in their factory clear...wheels are impossible to keep flawless if daily driven...

best way to do it, is to not clear the lips like stated.. Then polish the lips really really well and then use wax on them then a paint sealant, this way you do not have to keep polishing them every time you wash.. but if you do that, remember do not use any kind of wheel cleaning product it will oxidize it and you will have to do it all over again! Detail the wheels like you would the car, wash, clay brick, wax. They should be cared after just as much

and buy yourself a pack of microfiber towels at costco and wipe 'em down daily...

and if your wheels have rivets and you are washing, use a paint brush, not the foam kind haha, but a good brush

my lips are polished with no clear, and i havent washed them in 5 months.
i hope they are still shiny once i do clean them :D

Don't add clear, they will get hazy. Uncleared lips are as shiny as chrome if you take care of them. Most JDM aftermarket wheel lips are clear anodized which leaves the lips bright and shiny. It's pretty expensive for a shop to apply that finish.

thanks for the advice. what polish works best? and do i just use any piant sealant and wax or is there ones specificly for this? at the moment im using  klasse paint sealat and meguries nxt wax fpr my car.

yeah, those are fine! I am posting pics in my build thread right now since i took the opprotunity to fix one of the wheels, 2 and a half left to do!
