Door Handle swap.

Hers my question. This goes for any make and model car in general.
 
IM thinking of doin a door handle swap, I get its mainly bodywork but what about the mechanical aspec of it. making the whole door system work all together.
 
example: first gen LS with say Jaguar door handles, how hard would it be?
 
BTW its exterior work if some of you got confused.

nobody does bodywork huh...

it's just a matter of making the linkage work. different handles pull differently so you'd be wise to do a little research for simplicities sake. other than that the linkage is usually rods with 90* bends that go into clips (every one i've seen anyway). real easy to customize i'd imagine.
 
another option would be to put solenoids on the latch and open them by remote, similar to shaved doors. then you just have fitting the handle to worry about.

or you can hook it up so the handle is the unlock, and the key hole is the way you open the car door LOL

naw its pretty straight forward really. not to difficult. i think making the handle work on the door skin is the hardest part.

When I worked at a body shop, we did a couple Nissan Altima swaps.  One was performed on a bubble Caprice and the other on a fullsize Chevrolet truck.  The Caprice was a bit of a pain, but it got done.   Molded the plastic bucket in with Fusor products.  
 
A local custom shop fabricates these:  [URL]http://www.kindigit.com/goods.php[/URL]  Click on the 'custom products' button.  I've always loved them, just don't love the price tag.  Gangster as hell.  Push the round piece and the handle pops out, then you pull on the handle to open the door.

So I would just have to bend the links or make custom links rights? 
 
I have some door handels i came across. were not cheap but they are nissan im tryn to see if i can install these and still lock and open my door lol.

pretty much all the same. if you look at the inside of a door, you will see they have swivel junctions you can put more in to make it work. It is like working with Kinex lol

I was thinking about doing New gtr ones back to back with my suicide door conversion and then just chroming the handle for awesome vip phantom lookz

but no suicide doors I dont think it would look good on a y33. 
I still need 2 more tho. 
dealer wants a kidney for them even at my price, and they only sell them by VIN#.

for what door handles?

I love how the rear doors on the phantoms have an umbrella in them. That would be a awesome door mod to do.

It really depends on the door handle. For the most part, they all actuate downward or upward, to release the latch. My S10 actuated downward. 
 
Next time I have the door of my Q45 apart, I'll look. I'm sure it's just down.
 
Links may be the tricky part.  Getting proper tension can be a bit tricky.  You could thread each end of a rod, one with left hand threads the other with right hand, and have a turnbuckle in the middle.  That way, you can adjust slack in and out of it.

Thought about it I would have to look at how much space there is inside door.
Gotta see how much space their is between the window motors and glass.

I already planned it out a while ago.. its pretty easy, just have to get thin umbrellas. Cut hole into door, and run a pvc tube along side the crash door bar. As far as the spring loaded deal.. well thats trickier.

I will ask my buddy about the door handles.. I heard you dont need vins for that.. lol I also know someone with a gtr so maybe use his vin HAHAH < thats not a commercial post.

thats what the dearlship told. efen vegas nissan dealerships. 
yea i got a few buddies with GTR's. 
 
i kinda have an ideal for it to be spring loaded. but thats what i thought pvc pipe.

the one big thing is finding a umbrella small enough for the doors, since not Phantom sized. Also having suicide rear doors will make it easier, in front of the rear door its more flat than curved for the wheel arch.
