Crack on both lips (no dents)

Hey guys, so today I'm washing the car and I noticed something extremely wrong with my wheels. Just to give you a little back ground these are 4.5 inch lips and originally were 6.5 inch and were swaped out for a bit smaller ones. So I had the new wheels on for a while no issues, probably 5-6 days ago was the last time I washed the car until today when I noticed this. I didn't hit any potholes or didn't hit any hard bumps at all. There is no dents anywhere on these or signs of curbrash or them having contact with the road at all. The first thing that came to mind was that the wheel company ordered these from a different lip supplier than the other ones and these are poorly structered however I may be wrong I never seen anything like it. Anyone know what this might be from or what caused this??? Any idea if this is safe to drive on?? I know this is a wild question but it looks like the front piece is cracking off or comming off how would it have effect on the barrel or the inner lip which the tire sits on. This is on both of the new lips exacly at the same spot even to the mm when you measure from inside and out.

weak/soft metal can crack easy...i just fixed my  lorinsers the other week...but mine are oldschool and i didnt hit any potholes either, there is no buckles etc.
so id say its poor craftmanship and this should be covered by warranty(if you have any)

thats some crazy stuff. from my understanding some wheels have like a cap/ring in the outer lip when the lips are rolled over. it looks like it wasn't done correctly or something like that.
id send it back and request for replacements.

are these at all safe to drive on? I got to be somewhere today and have no clue if I have been riding on these for a week or a day.

well if i was in your place i wouldnt even consider driving it like this...

id imagine it to be dangerous, but i 'think' that if that inner part of the ring is to come apart, it might be ok temporarily but not for long as it will start to cut into the tire's sidewall. it also depends if that inner ring is welded on the bottom as well.  and if it does come apart, the structural rigidity of the barrel itself is weakened significantly id imagine.

crazy... that looks dangerous to me.  better to be safe than sorry.

wouldnt drive on that at all, definitely send those picutres to the manufacturer.  where's socalSC4?  bob would probably know if this could be anything other than an manufacturing defect.

what brand are the wheels?

Wow I have never see a lip split like that.  I wouldn't drive on it personally.  

Also curious who made the outer barrel/wheels.

Any chance those are hitting the fender lip?

Looks like friction damage to me, not cracking.

Never seen this before.

the cracks look pretty much straight and no signs of contacts with fender.. thus there may be issue in manufacturing your outer lips since you mentioned it happened to both lips.. 
how long have you used the new 4.5 inch lips? 
hopefully DPE could sort it out.. please keep us updated on the progress.. good luck man..
