Jordan to appear in NBA2k11

For those who been playing basketball video games over the years, you know that MJ is never is any of them.  They usually don't include him or they have a "Roster player" wearing number 99.  

He is going to be on the cover of NBA2k11 and will be in the actual game.  I look forward to dunking on him again with John Starks. :shrug:

While rumors pegged LeBron James, Derrick Rose and even Tyreke Evans as favorites to appear on the cover of "NBA 2K11," multiple sources have told ESPN that the company has gone in a completely different direction, signing basketball legend Michael Jordan as its new spokesman.

This will be the first time that a former player will appear on the front of the box for 2K, and with Jordan taking over majority ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats, it will also be the first time that a team owner will endorse the popular franchise.

But the real question is, what value -- beyond obvious name and iconic image recognition -- will Jordan bring to the game? In the era of Kobe and King James, are gamers still yearning to "Be Like Mike"?


The designers at 2K must think so. In addition to acting as cover model for "NBA 2K11," the speculation is that Jordan will also be digitized into a playable character. This means gamers will become the virtual MJ in hopes of reliving some of his trademark moments.

There's more. I've even heard whispers that 2K has been in negotiations with several players (both teammates and opponents) from the Jordan era to appear in "2K11" to help gamers and history buffs accurately recreate the heated competition between the classic Bulls and rivals like the Celtics, Knicks and Cavaliers. But since 2K needs to ink all former players to individual contracts, it's still up in the air whom the company will be able to sign in time to appear in the game.

But if this means we finally get a virtual Craig Ehlo to shoot over as we relive Jordan's famous jumper that doomed the Cavs, or maybe even a cyber Larry Bird describing MJ's game as "God disguised as Michael Jordan" after Jordan dropped 63 against the Celtics, then I'm all for it.

Hopefully more will be made clear once 2K Sports officially unveils the game to the media during the E3 video game convention in June.

Yeah, this will the be the ish if it Happens! I miss the old games: Jordan vs Bird and Lakers vs Celtics.. Chaos in The Windy City ( Don't even think about trying this game could have ended him)... Remember Space Jam?....He had a cameo in NBA Live 2000 on PS1 (those of you that have the "good" ps3 can go out and get this... if you can find it!!!... 2002-2-3 as a Wizard in NBA Live.. Now these were worth it! Final Boss in the original NBA Street!! And a playable character in NBA Street vol.2   (I own the first one, and want the second).... Of course I suck and never beat Jordan, but my son did on a $20 bet, I guess that make me a 2 time loser....

lol.  Yea he made a few appearances here and there but now that games are realistic down to the players tendencies, this is going to be sick.  I know he doesn't pass the ball so he is getting double teamed every time he touches it lol.  Unfortunately, he will still make the shot

I was copping it first day as soon as the store opens regardless if MJ was in it but this just makes me want it even more

I like how you have to unlock it and it's not jus given to you.

Played the 2K demo all lastnight. It's better but the demo had it's fair share of glitches that I hope gets worked out. The players run faster, the dribble controls are more in depth, the players skills are closer to how they really play. You can't jus run in and dunk on everybody. Graphics and presentation is also better. I digg it all! Can't wait! 
 
Oh yea and the demo only lets you play Lakers Vs Celtics in LA

I had no internet or cable tv for almost the whole week.  I wanted to die lol

I think about this game every day, I am still playing 2k10.  Can't wait to get this

I jus spent the last hour playing the demo
WAY!!!!!!!! better than 2k10

The AI is on point to where you can't jus pass down the court w/ and to anybody nor can you jus pass to anybody anytime. The AI will jump in and try to steal.

The players play jus like the real deal. Rondo rarely if ever shoots from the outside
He really runs the offense and when he goes to the whole, he tends to do that lil runner he always does. Also on D you can't jus hold the right trigger and lock up the opponent. Now you jus gotta do your best to stay in front and play smart D. Rondo on fisher, Rondo is jus to fast and crosses up fisher jus about every time.

Also on D, shot blocking attempts are more realistic. Depending on how you use the controls the shots can be blocked in different ways which gives the game alot more realism. 

And the game running faster/smoother will shut up all those Live fans who say the game is too slow. Now it's on point!

Besides COD, the NBA2k series has been by far the best game on the box every year.

On a side note, NBA Live officially retired.  Thats how you know they suck, they had to come back with a new name.  They are hosting an event by me before NBA2k11 comes out.  I'm loyal to the 2K series but that doesn't mean I can't buy both games if I feel its worth it.  I'm really going there just for the NBA Jam arcade game though

The controls are waaaaaayyyyyy too complicated and the camera angles are bad!!! Compared to NBA2K, even w/ the dope bonus of NBA jam it's still not worth buying. SO I'll no longer be buying Elite. I'll jus get the emulator and play that shit on the computer for free when I want

I been playing it since the 4th.  So sick.  When you play the my player mode, after certain games, you have to talk to the press and they mention things about the game you played like if you shot bad or made too many turn overs.  You can answer one of 5 ways.  You can talk shit and you fan rating will go up lol but your team chemistry and local fan support will go down.

The my player is way better but its harder.  There is so much more to this game than the older ones.  If you play bad, no one shows up to your games.  If you talk a lot of shit in your press conferences, the fans boo you lol.

Depending on the player, after getting hacked, you can get up and push them.

Are you done with the Jordan challenge?   I just got one more left to do, his last game.  Grabbing the 4 steals always gets me.  The flu game was tough grabbing the 7 boards while being slow, tired and not being able to jump

This is the best game period.  It will not be leaving my xbox until fight night comes out.  After 2 weeks of that, its back to nba2k11




Oh and I injured Jordan with John Starks.  He was on his back rolling as the knicks started clapping LMAO.  I saved the replay.  It was a moment every hardcore knick fan wished for lol

Before this game came out, I bought the Halo game cause Airmax was talkin and hyping it up and my lil bro wanted it. I played it for maybe an hour before I was over it. 
 
NBA2K has always been my most favorite game title on the box since day one! It's jus so addicting and good! And this year it's jus unbelieveably good/smart!

Naw! I went straight to season mode! Shits! Hard but I think I've  figured it out already! No easy down the court or passes inside. The AI will jus steal that shit almost everytime! Unlocking the Jordan shoe's IS DOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I jus unlocked the XIs lastnight! SO dope that you can equip them on certain players. Sucks you can't have Kobe rockin Js. I still need to find out if you can add the Js to players on season mode.
 
How was the Jordan 61 pts challenge? Did you jus ball hog w/ Jordan everytime?

The Jordan shoes are the icing on the cake.  In my player mode, you can change the colors how ever you want them.  I forgot which one it was but one of them gives you 3 points for speed.  In my player, one point of speed is over 2,000 points so that one shoe will save you like 8-10 games (cause its harder to get points this year)

Scoring with Jordan is easy when you know how to play with him.  I scored 112 points with him in one of the challenges and scored all my teams points lol.  The Pistons, Celtics and Knicks all play tight D though.  You can't drive as easily.  You have to hit mostly J's.  Just cross the guard over by the free throw line and you will have an open J almost all the time.

One of the hardest challenges is against the Blazers in the finals. You need to hit 6 3's and score 35 by half time.  If that wasn't hard enough, you need to only allow Clyde to score 20 the whole game and you need to win.  I had to do that challenge like 6 times.  But you already know to finish the game or not if you didn't hit the 6 3's by half time so it saves you some trouble.  After the 6th 3, the camera zooms in on him and he does the shrug.  For some reason, I had to hit 7 3's for him to do it.

Oh yea and if you play good in my player, you can get endorsements.  Depends on what team you are on and how good you play.  Big market like NY or LA is easier to get it but you still have to play good and handle all your press conferences the right way.  The other day I was asked about practice!   LOL you already know how I answered that one.  "Practice?!  We are talking about Practice?"
