Blox Racing Open House Car Show - July 11, 2010

I decided the night before to make it out to this show.  Originally, I was just going to go without the GS and just spectate.  I was pretty much set on not driving the car much until my new suspension is installed.  I posted on my Facebook page to find out who was rolling out and when I saw the replies, I decided why the hell not.  The turnout was amazing, the whole parking lot was filled to capacity.  It was crazy.  Wasn't many VIP Cars there however it was nice to see Nor Cal come out as a whole.  I don't know how you guys from Fremont do it.  The cops out there were brutal.  So many cars were being towed.  All I saw were cars being put onto flatbeds throughout the day.  :(

I gotta thank VIPDout for bringing his canopy and allowing me to park with him and his crew.  I pretty much rolled up alone so I was pretty much set to park alone as well.  Once again, thanks for making room for my family and I. 

I didn't take too many pictures.  I am not good yet at taking pictures.  Forgive me if my pictures suck.  I have a lot to learn still with the new camera and need to spend more time with it. I took some in the beginning but then stopped once I started to run into a lot of my old friends.  It was nice to see all of you once again.  Thank you for spending some time to say hello and chit-chat for a bit. 

I remember one reason why I stopped doing outdoor car shows.  Trying to clean the car in the heat.  For those of you who show your cars in weather that was hotter than what we had today, I commend you.  Seriously, I started doing the front of the car and then stopped. lol

John. It was Great to see you and the family out for another show!! It's always Great to see James and the VIP'dout gang too!! Gave the "Legend" the day off!! Brought out the "Lude" instead! All in all the show was pretty good!! Great weather! Great people!! And Great friend's hangin' out!! The only thing that sucked was our wonderful buddy from the Fremont PD!! His name goes without saying because everyone knows who he is!! Can't wait to see you all at the next event this summer and hang out somemore!! Till then see ya!! :biggthumpup:

John - Thanks for coming out to our event! Glad to see some VIP cars out there. Next year myself and another BLOX dude Cary will be building our LS460s. So we should have some more VIP cars out there.

They were towing cars for what? Stolen parts? Or just harrassing people with 'illegal' parts and or low/loud? 
 
That's pretty shady that they still go into events and do that stuff...something about the 4th Amendment comes to mind...

Robbie - Sorry we couldn't talk at all.  Every time I saw you, it seemed you had something to do / somewhere to be.  I didn't want to be a bother.  Email me anytime if you need anything from us here at VSC.  I spoke to Cary briefly and he mentioned the LS460s.  Thats crazy, if you guys put half the effort you guys do into the race builds, those 460s are going to be insane.  I look forward to seeing them!  Thank you so much for accommodating me on such last minute notice.  I owe you for that one.

The cars that I personally saw on flatbeds were only 2 actually.  One may have been "towed home" because I know he got hit pretty bad on the way in.  Seriously, its bad that it happened, but we can't control what the cops do.  If they wanted to checkpoint us, they probably could of.  Most of the cars out there had non carb legal mods, or hell even non DOT-approved mods.  Technically, the 4th amendment shouldn't have any foundation for any tickets / impoundments given.  There is nothing that a car show promoter can do in regards to the public roads. Sadly, we don't get any "free pass" because we were at a car show.  We are still driving our cars on a public road or highway.  Same rules apply.  It sucks tho, I know.  I've been there.  All the times I ever got hit by a cop were car event related in the past with my Hondas.  

It was a lot of fun.  Even made me miss my old EK.  I wish a lot of the Blox / Benen stuff was around when I had my EK back in the day.  Would of made a lot of work easier.

The Vipdout crew and myself had a great time. you are family. Esp at car events need something lemme know. 

I have to say thank you John and Robbie for the spots on short notice. but we able to come in full force. I did however do a write up on my blog and derrick my media guy took alot of photos. 

John your camera does amazing work comparing your camera and shots to mine. (quality is insane)

To all the vsc members , Ron, Mike , Scott, Tony , Shane and others ... always great to kick bad and chat at these events !

Thank you for the kind words!  Your car looked sick. I was walking around the show right before it started and I stopped to look at your car for a bit.  If you want the full resolution photo let me know. I can email it to you.

When we have our annual show here (Simpson Racing) we get no problems from the cops and have a Redondo Beach Sheriff's Dept 64 Barracuda Dragster here most years (it's NOT tax payer funded) and he usually shows off just a little bit.  Then half the other guys will be doing burnouts in their blown street-drag cars and no hassle at all. Sucks it's like that up there.

I believe the cop that was behind all of this also has a "personal" issue with modified imports.  Its an urban legend so I won't get into that.  However, he does have a reputation all over Nor Cal in regards to how tough he is on modified imports.   Its all good, its a given when in Fremont, most other cities in SF, the cops are pretty cool about it

Yea, it was quite busy to say the least. Wanted to make sure everything was going right for our first event. I'm sure we'll have more help next year and I'll have more time to actually check things out. 

Going to try and be more active on this forum, especially when we start the build on my LS460 and Carys. Should be fun! 

Glad you had fun, let me know if you want to collab on any events or projects in the near future.
