98 or 99 toyota avalon

I was just wondering if anyone has vip a 98 or 99 toyota avalon yet.

no its never been done..ever...you can be the first, but it will be very hard...very very hard.  Only because its not a VIP platform car...:smiley-rofl:

It's not a very desirable car to begin with, so why even bother? Get something else and you'll be glad you did. I think the mid 2000's Avalon is actually pretty decent looking and has potential (1st time I remember seeing one I thought it was a Crown because of the shape of the headlights). But the late 90's one? No way.

Hey if that's the car  your working with just take styling cues from VIP & build your car...it's not gonna be "VIP" but it can be VIP influenced.

I believe I am the first Avalon to have a Vip Influence. Correct me if im wrong.

U, sir, are wrong... well, at least here in the states you might be the first one. The platform is not popular here in the states but i have seen these cars here and there in VIP mags (VIP Style and VIP Car), specially the newer 99-04 Toyota Pronard/Avalon.

I always had a thing for that year avalon. Any particular wheels you are looking into? I think it'll be a completely different animal once you play with your itment. That front bumper looks different/clean. Propps for bringing somethng out of the norm to the table.

I completely disagree with your narrow perception of VIP Style concerning platforms, but to each his own and I do not mean to offend anyone by this statement. 

In no way am I calling his car VIP styled BTW. What I said was that the platform has potential if done right. A slammed car with a fusa is not VIP. That is a [B][I]start[/I][/B], but not a [B][I]completed project[/I][/B]. Notice I said car and not sedan? there are MANY platforms used today, including luxury coupes that are considered VIP Styled once they are finished... but thats another topic for another thread. 

For the OP:
I think this car would look good on an Aimgain or Sessions style kit. I would do 19x8.5 wheels all around (something with dish) and play with the offsets as well as with the height. Keep it black. Good luck with your project.

VIP platform cars, are all RWD luxury sedans, none are FWD. In USA our choices are very limited, the following models are pretty much it.
Lexus GS and LS
Infiniti M & Q

6 plus years being into VIP, I have had dozens of VIP mags, but I can't ever recall seeing an Avalon in any of them, other than one of the newest models which was built by one of the brands.

Please name the source for this... like an OFFICIAL source where all VIP lore is written... which of course,no such exists, just someones opinion, which I respect and you should also respect. 

It is rather ignorant when someone makes a statement like 'It is not VIP because it isn't'. A platform might not be VIP in your eyes because you aren't seeing the end product of a project like the original poster has in his mind, and comments such as 'your platform is not VIP' will not help him achieve his goal. 

The topic about what is VIP style and what platforms are VIP has been done again and again and many times it polarizes the perception of what the style really is. Also, being that VIP companies are constantly being influenced by euro, DUB and other styles, the lines get blurred all the time. How happy you are with your car and the path you took is the primary

My goal with this response and reply is to clarify my standing and mindset, and also to help out and encourage the valiant member daring to be different by choosing a less popular plattform to complete his car project.

You can go against the grain all you want. There are countless posts in the various VIP 101 sections about what is or isn't a VIP platform. It's very simple really.

And it's not ignorant to say it's not a VIP platform because it's not a VIP platform.  How's stating a fact ignorant? 

The Avalon posted is not a VIP car, nor is it VIP "styled". Simple as that. Sure it can be done, but that car has a ways to go.

I like what you did to the bumper. Add fogs and maybe another opening for a vent and the bumper should look good.

For a rear bumper, you can probably explore some elements from the Avalon I posted or from Y33's rear bumpers.

You already have coilovers, so work with wheel offsets/sizes. I would definitely try something with lip and a bit of an aggressive offset. I think mesh or full-faced styled rims should look good and you can even try 18's if you intend to keep the car that low. I would experiment with 8.5 and 9 in wide wheels.

Considering I'm going for the look with an 87 camry and I have my fair share of haters I say go with what u want. If you pull it off u'll look better than most people who have a platform sitting on wheels compared to a completely custom avalon that has the look down. And nowadays an avalon fully loaded costs more than some of these platform cars. The ball is in ur court op. The first gen avalon definitely adopted styling cues from a platform car. get some coilovers and some nice wheels. Grab a hammer and get to work. If all else fails look at what they doin in thailand. An avalon may not be JDM VIP but it sure as hell falls under the Thai-style of VIP if you pull it off right.

 The price point it's sold at and the options u can get I'd consider the Avalon to be a potential US VIP model. Because we all actually live over here and we're workin with what we have over here, not with what we see in a magazine. US VIP needs its own identity and needs to branch off and stop hangin off JDM VIPs nuts. Thank them fror creating the styling/trend now keep it movin with what we have over here, kinda like they did in Thailand. My $0.02.

I guess maybe a Cressida is in the grey area because it is a RWD luxury sedan, just older than most platforms. It was top of the line before Lexus, and I have seen them although as Mark II's and Crestas in VIP mags.

Yea, a Cressida could be bad ass. There's a guy at my work with one and it's minty, I told him if he ever sells it to give me dibs on it.

JMAX..we've seen all those cars..if you want to post something from another country that is doing it right...then post something from Thailand.  But scan the forums first to make sure it wasn't already posted...since some of the Thai guys are actually members here.

Indeed, a dead horse is a dead horse. One of the things that made me bring this horse from the fridge was that I [B]felt [/B]that after the OP posted his plans, instead of giving him proper guidance about what could work on his vehicle, people started discouraging his project.
