My Falkens last about a week and then...

I really liked the way my car was sitting for about a week. Then it all 
happened again. My new Falken ST115's leak from the side walls on the
front wheels. About a month ago the passenger front held air for about 
four miles. Then pop, lost all pressure and the tire exploded on the 
highway. So I rolled on stock wheels for a few weeks until I was able 
to source another ST115. I had my new passenger tire on for about a 
week. The driver side has about 50 miles on it from driving around 
all week. So today I was about to attend a little meet in our area and 
was washing the car outside. When I brought it back into the garage to 
wipe down the windows I started to hear a hiss, and then I noticed that 
my front driver side started to lose pressure. Here we go again, so I spent 
an hour removing all of my wheels again, and installed the stock ones. 
So, I have lost all faith using 215/35's on my front 8.5's. It's not an 
extreme stretch but for some reason they just wont hold air on the side
 walls. So, the ST115's are pretty hard to find these days and I'd rather 
not get them again. My rear 235/35's hold fine on 9.5's. So, I'm thinking 
about moving up to 225/35's on the fronts now. I can only find Falken 
452's though. So, should I just get another new 215/25 ST115 and pray
 or just get two new 225/35 452's? I wonder if my vehicle weight is too 
much for these front ST115's or if it's an installation error. Either way I'd 
feel safer on 225's. I'm just tired of swapping wheels every other week 
and listening to the GF bicker about why I still mess with this stuff. 
Anyways, give me some feedback on what you would do.

I don't have any personal experience with 452's but everything I've read says don't stretch'em. Notorious for sidewalls bubbling.

Yeah I was rocking some falken 452's and they both lost air and bubbled up on me! They were 215/35/19 by 8.5 and this happened twice! :pat:

so its leaking from the bead area? its probably ur chrome wheels. they are probably corroded inside at the bead seat area. that causes it to leak. you can try bead sealer after scuffing up the bead seat area first. or get the wheels rechromed
this is a common problem with chrome wheels. especially oem shits

I've run Falken 452s on both of my cars, Never had a problem with them....:shrug:

You are the second person to mention that it might be the chrome beads. 
I didn't notice any major corrosion but I think the wheels should get refinished 
over the winter. I hate to run stock wheels but my commute was just increased 
to 70 miles a day. I think the 225 Falken 452's should be ok. 225's is not really 
a strech so I won't worry about the fronts as much. I'll keep everyone informed.

everything i've ever read tells me not to stretch falkens.

Been stretching Nitto NT555's for a few years and love them to death, good experience with General Exclaim UHP as well :)

I had a simliar problem on 19x8.5 with 215/35/19 Falken ST115.    I ran this size all around on my 2000 Acura RL.  The 2nd week I had the tires on I was on an off ramp near Seattle and hit some uneven concrete on the ramp.  It started loosing air and so I put more air in.  Two bulges quickly developed on the inner side wall.   I wouldn't run this setup again.  The load may have been too much for the tires.  I had 225/35/19 ST115 on 19x9.5 on my SC400 with no problems.

I got them from Discount Tire Direct but finding sizes of ST115 is becoming increasingly difficult.

Running Nankangs now and loving them. Will see how they do after a couple hundred mile trip end of this month.

On my 2nd set of General UHP's and love them. I'm surprised you're having these problems, it's a minor stretch. Good luck sorting it out.

i had Nankangs on the M , they did not hold air once i hit a pot hole ..WTF .. Had Fk2 on it before side wall bubbled ..

BTW this  might sound stupid did you  get an alinment lately ?

I won't run falkens ever again. A more affordable tire that gives a better stretch is Diamondback. I'm running a 235/23 on my 9.5s and it's much more stretch than my 452 215/35 on 8.5s.

Not really. I took the wheels off on Sunday and have been running around 
on stockers. I just started a new job that's 35 miles in each direction. For the 
most part it's smooth, but on certain roads I've found craters. I don't trust 
my DH's and Falkens right now. I'm going to get them refinished over the 
winter and try a different tire set up next Spring. Let me know how the 
sealant is holding up.

I think its more of a problem with your wheels. If you wheels are corroded or really dirty on the bead its less like to seal especially with a stretch. On another note, I dont ever plan to run falkens on my 19s again. I have st115s and fk452s with about 75% tread and they all have bubbles. I have nankang ns2's that have already been flipped once and theyre still going strong. Noisy as hell but they last.

I hear so many guys pushing either the Nankangs or Generals. I'll be switching 
next year to one of these. I guess I can just sell my falkens. They have about 
50 miles on each tire except for the one I replaced which has about 20. 
I think I paid around $100-120 each so hopefully I can make some of the money 
back.

I just flipped my General's after 1.5 years and figure I'll get another year on them, they're not noisy at all either, & like mentioned above, it's my 2nd set, love them.

I have to agree with F.L.S. General's are bulletproof.  I had a set for 2.5 years without any bubbling.  Ive hit several potholes and they stay perfect.

I think the real problem is with the wheels. They are probably super dirty and or 
corroded on the inside. I'm going to have the problem wheels looked at soon.

2nd set of wheels I stretch falkens on. ST115s on my leons, 452 on my modulars. Not a single issue, not even a slight loss of air after several weeks of not checking and my front are pretty stretched. This might be an install error. My friend had a tire put on at a place and they ripped off a piece with the pry bar and the bead wouldn't set.

Yeah man with what you said Im thinking the wheels are a fault.
Iv been running Falkens for 10 years and never had any problems ( including the 115's )
I just switch to Nitto NT555's and am really happy with them too. I would get the wheels fixed 
up then try a different tire to be sure.
