W-T-F!!!!!
Yea its killing me right now. I wanted to get a kit for myself
Word! Just got hammered for the new wheels
can you guys at least put some numbers up... cause this thread is str8 useless without figures or charts... :innoutrofl2:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=dollar+to+yen+rate 1 USD = 85.88 YEN
But thats not the number used when transfering US dollars to their banks. Take like 2-3% off of that. This is a good time to sell ur used stuff if you are already sitting on your next set of wheels.
Wow, That is not surprising but this is the lowest I have seen.
Damn! When I was there in May I think I got about ¥107 to $1
^^shizz!!
dollar is starting to get a bit of ground again, that's why. when the dollar was weak, everyone was broke as fuck anyways, at least in california. :hsughd3:
I took $2,000 when I visited Tokyo in May and swapped it for 178,000 yen, I believe. Wasn't too bad. Tokyo is the shit by the way. Go if you ever get the chance!
When I first moved to Japan it was 1 USD = ¥146. But it was down to 1 USD = ¥84 earlier this week at my bank.
Yea, I got quoted for a replacement aimgain bumper and it's almost as much as a full kit for jus the bumper!
ouch, wrong time to buy Japanese goods...maybe wait till around xmas time?
what i do is watch it everyday...when is a good day i exchange about 2k usd into yen. good thing for me is the stuff i bought last year or the year before is worth more than what i paid. but sometimes if i see something i really want i just go buy um...can always make that $ back as long as you are happy... btw is been sucks for a while...a good day is when it is 95 and it didn't even happen for a while now
Would it make sense to transfer money in USD to yen to someone when it's low and transfer back when it's high? It's just an idea, but sounds like easy money.

It's just an idea, but sounds like easy money.
Yeah, currency exchange is a big business...there was a movie with Nicholas Cage and he was doing it illegally IIRC. Problems with currency exchange..is it is just rates being changed, then fees are charged for changing it, then taxes.. blah blah. and it's all just paper, values that are changed just because one market is doing better than the other. No hard assets. If you wait too long your value could plummet because of some natural disaster or war, or something else like that. You want money? Buy land. Sit on it for a few years. Then sit on it some more. You'll either end up with a lot of money, or a lot of land, which will eventually skyrocket in value when population increases in that area.
The currency market is one of the most complicated and difficult to predict because there are so many factors that affect rate fluctuations. I follow USD quite closely. It has lost against most major currencies not just the YEN. There are fears that there is so much printed US money thanks to bailouts/stimulous. Also to service major debts, the US Federal Reserve will need to print even more money which may further devalue the currency.
most foreign markets depend on U.S. to buy goods so if we are hurting, most likely other nations are feeling the affects of it as well...it will eventually bounce back but we got ourselves into a HUGE hole and will take 7+ years to get back where we once were...last few years was a great time to sell short but there are some strong companies that will turn profits...don't wait for currency to be as good as it once was for a looong time...there's always deals out there in japan auctions, just gotta be patient and find them... everyone needs to buy a house right now...
if you guys are into money exchange invest in chinese rmb. buy property that is a good idea. but there are always good and bad buy. sometimes the problem with that is most people having hard time with the 20% deposit down.
