LED turn signals

so, I am trying to upgrade to LED turn signals...white...trying to see how fast i get pulled over i guess, but o well...

well first things first...with just the rears turned to LED, the turn signals work as intended with the hazard flash but when i just use the turn signal, the light blinks rapidly like when you have a bulb out.

well, i havent really decided still if i like that or not. im leaning not, because i picture VIP as smooth, elegant, not fast, lets go...

anyway. i bought the front led's and installed tonight...er...last night...and well, now the hazards blink hella fast, and now, the regular turn signals dont work at all. all four corners just stay on...anyone gots any idea on what i should do other than revert back to stock??...

and i know motorcycles use resistors that connect between the negative and positive wire by the bulb to disrupt the signal and make it seem like the bulb is using the stock amount of power...would this work?? any ideas/help is greatly appreciated!! (btw, i cant find anything on the search)

check vleds. i havent tried these yet but i plan on running the plug and play ones. Hope this helps. Ive bought regular leds from them and they are really good quality.

You need load equalizers.

^^^aka resistors. but i'd keep them as is - a quickie blink is jdm yo =)

...not clowning, I'm running mine w/ out resistors. Red led rear blinkers, chrome coated yellow front signals.

thanks, i already have the led's and vleds are mad expensive...

like i mentioned tho...the turn signals dont work at all if the headlights are on...hazards nothing...

I guess my question is "load equlizers" resistors...what kind should i get? i.e. what ohm and all that if someone knows...will the ones used on the crotch rockets work? but i have to get them just so the dam things will work...but, right now with the fast blinking, the white LEDs are so damn bright it looks like a strobe...lol...

98' Q45...

my understanding of the v-leds post is this:

to fix 1 filament bulb, you would have to wire up the 6 ohm 50watt resistor.

my question with this is...
since you will have all four corners LED's, will you need 4 resistors?

and if so, are they suppose to be mounted in line to each bulb? i.e. one resistor at each corner of the car?

can you wire in 2 resistors at each tail light and alleviate the problem? or to do it this way, do you have to wire in, say resistors at the front and the back?...

the other thing i get out of this is (2) 3ohm 50 watt resistors handles 4 filament bulbs...so, basically same question, are you to wire this at each tail light or at the tail light and headlight?

im pretty sure this is confusing...hopefully not...but if no one can answer i will end up just testing it all out for others future reference...

I know most people like LED's for their looks, but a great benefit from LED's is that they consume less power than filament bulbs. Addin resistors to create a load as much as the filament bulb consumes cancels it's benefits. Now ya just got a resistor suckin up power and makin heat, wastin energy.

I have a 98 with LED turns, probably nothin close to what yours are, but what fixed my flasher problem was tossin out the old stock Flasher Relay and swappin in one made to use with LED's. Best and easiest solution out there IMO.

i completely agree...and i dont really want to use the resistor method...and you just presented this idea of an led relay...hmmm, where did you get this?

and On3_lo35, im in jacksonville...bout two hours east of ya...

But there's a few places to find em. Auto parts stores might have em too

i just popped the hood, and didnt find a relay that says turn signal...would i have to get two...one for the "head lamp" and "tail lamp" relays?

THANKS!

Nah man, one is all you need. Its in the car.

Remove the lower dash part on the drivers side. Take of the metal black brace that you'll see there. And it'll be somewhere in the center near where the radio is. Hit the flashers and you'll feel the relay swithin on and off

our friend (romeo291 one here) had the same problem and he purchased one from
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/12V-Electronic-LED-Flasher-Relay-Fix-Turn-Signal-p/led_flasher_fix_sku85.htm (what brokey33 mentioned) and it fixed everything. I travel to wilmington twice a week. Maybe we kick it sometime... VIP scene in NC is pretty slack
