any idea why ecu wouldn't put out +12v to the fuel pump relay? g50

The ecu in my 96 g50 isn't sending a +12v signal when the car is running to the fuel pump relay (pink wire w/ a black stripe). thoughts? for now i jumped the relay which works fine other than i now have power to my fuel pump whenever the key is in the ON position. my friend had the same problem with his 240sx a few years ago and this is what he did so the car would run.

i have continuity in that wire from front to back, not sure what the deal is.
this all stemmed from a bad fuel pump which was pulling too much current and broke a solder in my fpcm. i have since re-soldered and replaced the fuel pump with a new one. the car ran fine for a little over a week and until last weekend the fuel pump sometimes wouldn't get power when trying to start. when it wouldn't start, if i left the key in ON the message center would say "LOW FUEL" when i'd have like half a tank. the low fuel indicator has never worked since i bought it, only the level indicator.

i want to say this is a pretty common issue, but i don't know much about it since i haven't had the problem. have you looked around nico? much better when it comes to maintenance issues.
