tuck wheels or sit flush?

Can't decide if i want my y50 to tuck rear wheels when "dumped" or have it sit perfectly flush with poke to the lip of the rim....

aside from personal preferences... anyone have any pros and cons to either?

Low & aggressive is the key I believe......personally I hate when the tire isn't under the fender hahahaha.....

I've had both

Currently riding a little tucked (rim barely tucks under neath the fender)

Pro's of tuck
-Looks dope when matched all around w/ aggressive wheels

Con's
-If you're not tubbed, you're mostlikely gonna have rubbing issues w/ the fender wells and if wheels aren't aggressive enough, you look like a sunken battle ship

Pro's of poke
-Killer aggressive stance that looks insane and undrivable

Con's
-If not done right, you'll f*** up your fenders

Examples of tuck:

The Y50 rear quarters are cut lower than the fronts. If you don't tuck the rears, you will have a crazy rake and the rear of your car won't be too low. If you are not willing to do the body work to get the arches even, than tuck.

Perfect fitment is nice but being low is nicer

The last pic is a Y50 and it looks pretty straight to me w/ no tuck
His new body work is gonna allow him to tuck for a proper ride height I believe......

Thats cause he pulled the quarter panel out and folded the lip on the edge of the fender up

Check it out on a stock body M

See how the front has more gap then the rear. If he gets it lower, the rear will be tucking and the front will be flush. Not saying its a bad thing or a good thing. It just is what it is. If he wants flush, there will be some rake if he doesnt do fender work

gotcha... hmm decisions decisions...

so here's where i'm at now... I can't roll this low because the inner fender is resting on tire and the edge of the fender is resting on the lip of the rim (bad). But i'm on accuair so if i decide to go poke, i'm going to adjust it so that the height is right before the weight of the car is stressing out the fender.

Or.... i will do a baby pull and add some negative camber and tuck (which will also allow me to ride lower).

However, I want to stress that i only plan to roll real low when pulling up to parking lots. Normal daily driving i'm riding at my ride height which is about an inch gap all around to minimize tire wear.

But right now, the way it is... i can't roll like that... i gotta go up about an inch and a half

I agree with O, I think that he nailed it. Both can look sick if its done right, but I'd say being flush is my fav.

imo it has a lot to do with wheel size. if your wheels are larger diameter and being flush is at the expense of being low then tuck it. if your wheels are smaller and you can get low on flush then go for it.

i plan to level out the ride... which means a slight pull, maybe some neg camber to have it tuck a little.

Then if i ever want to ride flush/poke... i'll add a spacer....

will do a full post on my build once its done

imo the flat arch above the wheel well makes pulls look especially bad on this type of 1/4 panel. i would try and do it with camber if you decide to tuck, or a subtle widebody type flair if you want to go all out on the metal/body work.

Keep it as is, it looks sick. If you want to drive lower, just get smaller tires. As mentioned, play with the rear camber if you want to tuck the rear. Don't pull the fenders on this car unless you do both the front and rear.

I agree with this one... I got wheels that are too agressive, and with flare, it made the flat arch look kinda weird.

BTW... UMMAgawd, your car was looking hot at RPM. Loving them Leon's!

If you plan on driving low, make the wheels tuck. If you're gonna drive 4x4 and dump it at meets, letting the fender rest on the lip is fine.
